This case still makes me incredibly sad. 💔

This client came to me after five PMU laser removal sessions with another provider, and what was left behind wasn’t just stubborn pigment. Her brows showed significant scarring, loss of brow hair, dense white tissue changes, and pigment trapped within damaged tissue. 😔

When I see a case like this, it is hard not to feel upset knowing that someone trusted a provider to safely remove unwanted permanent makeup and instead ended up with damage that may never fully reverse.

PMU removal should never be about chasing the most dramatic frosting response or pushing the laser harder just because pigment remains. ⚠️ Heavy frosting, stacking passes, and overly aggressive fluence can injure the skin and the hair follicles beneath it. Once scar tissue forms, that remaining ink can become even more difficult to address safely.

For this client, I did not want to immediately go after the pigment again.

Instead, I performed laser scar revision with the goal of helping loosen the tight, overworked scar tissue and soften the heavy white appearance of the scarring. ✨ At this stage, improving the condition of her skin mattered more than trying to force additional pigment removal.

Cases like this are exactly why I created a skin-and-hair-first protocol for PMU removal. 🤍

My treatments are intentionally conservative. Settings are chosen specifically for the client’s skin, pigment, history, and tissue response. I use controlled treatment speed, minimal unnecessary overlap, and I do not believe an eyebrow needs to be aggressively frosted to prove that a treatment “worked.”

Would I rather take an extra session if it means protecting someone’s skin and brow hair? Absolutely. Every single time. 🙌

Because the goal is not simply to remove ink.

The goal is to remove it without creating a new problem that may be permanent.

And this client’s story will always be one of the cases that reminds me why that matters so much. 💔
