It’s interesting how we’ve done the same thing with carbs that we once did with fat. For years everything was “fat-free,” and now people hear the word carbs and think they need to avoid fruit, potatoes, rice, and even vegetables.

But there’s a huge difference between ultra-processed carbs in a package and whole-food carbohydrates your body can actually use for energy and recovery. A sweet potato after a workout is not the same thing as processed snack food. Context matters too. Someone training hard or lifting weights is going to use carbs very differently than someone sedentary.

Most people don’t need more fear around food. They usually just need better quality food and a better understanding of what their body actually needs.
