A lot of the time, I talk about the big things massage can do. But sometimes, it’s the small things that make you choke up a little.

A client wrote on her form:

“What I want from this session: is for my wedding rings to fit again.”

I worked with intention. I worked with light and love. (We did a lymphatic massage.)

Later, her daughter came in for her own session and said, “Oh, Mom was able to wear her rings again.”

Hearing that transported me to the moment she slipped her ring back onto her finger—the corners of her mouth curling up into a little smirk because she felt like herself again, with her wedding ring in its rightful place.

And I’m glad it was me who got to help make that simple, beautiful moment happen.

Thank you to my Touch of Joy clients for telling me about these moments and letting me be a part of them. These are the moments that remind me why I do what I do. 🤍

UNWANTED TOUCH IS NOT MASSAGE.

Massage is:
✨ Therapeutic touch
✨ Informed consent
✨ Professional education
✨ Clear boundaries

Massage is NOT:
❁ Grooming
❁ Sexual touching
❁ Exploitation
❁ A gateway to sexual services

We hear that children in high-profile exploitation cases 'gave massages.' No. They were children placed in intentional, compromising situations by adults who used money to facilitate and conceal abuse.

Calling it 'massage' softens the actions of the perpetrators, shifts attention onto the victims, and stains a legitimate healthcare profession.

Massage was not the crime. The grooming, trafficking, and abuse were. Stop using massage as a comfortable word for uncomfortable misconduct. Name the behavior. Respect the profession.

Thank you for coming to my "Ted Talk".

❤️ A little personal post from the woman behind Touch of Joy
Today I’m celebrating one year of marriage to my wonderful husband. ❤️ Charlie Tyler

Running a business means you often see me as the massage therapist, the business owner, the person taking care of everyone else—but behind the scenes, I have someone taking care of me, too.
I have a husband who is patient with me, believes in me, works hard beside me, has my back in every room, and thinks about what I need even when I’m not there.
We push each other to grow—not because we want to change one another, but because we both want to see the other succeed.
Over this last year, we’ve worked together to turn dreams into reality. Not overnight. Not through luck. Through hard work, patience, love, and time.
And perhaps the greatest gift he has given me is something much harder to describe.

I don’t know if I had ever truly known what it felt like to be loved unconditionally before him.
But I know I am now. Every single day.
Happy 1st Anniversary to my husband, my partner, my teammate, and the man standing behind the woman behind Touch of Joy Massage Clinic. ❤️
Here’s to the dreams we’ve already built and all the ones we’re still working toward.

It may feel like the apocalypse outside.

The noise. The demands. The feeling that the world needs one more thing from you when you’ve already given everything you have.

But inside Touch of Joy, the world can be quiet for a little while. There is warmth. There is care. There is room to breathe.

And even when everything outside feels like it’s falling apart, it’s still a beautiful world in here. 💛

🏆 LET’S TALK ABOUT WINNING.

The word “win” comes from an Old English word meaning “to labor, struggle, fight, and succeed through effort.”

Society often tells us that winning means having the most—the most money, the nicest things, or the biggest achievements.

But I think winning looks different.

I think winning is not having a million pain notifications firing through your body.

I think winning is having time and energy for the people you love.

I think winning is liking yourself at the end of the day, when nobody else is around.

I think true wealth is knowing your body, understanding what it needs, and knowing how to care for it.

At Touch of Joy Massage Clinic, winning can be as simple as scheduling an appointment and maintaining your body—so you can keep showing up for the life you worked so hard to build.

I know my clients like to be winners.

How about you? 💛

🌿 Tips for Massage Clients—from an LMT MMP

✨ Arrive a few minutes early so you don’t feel rushed.
✨ Eat lightly beforehand. A heavy meal may make lying on the table uncomfortable.

✨ Speak up about pressure, temperature, positioning, music, or anything else affecting your comfort. Your preferences will never hurt my feelings!

✨ You may undress only to your comfort level. Clear boundaries are always welcome and respected.

✨ Don’t apologize for your body—body hair, stretch marks, scars, size, or anything else. You are here to be cared for, not judged.

✨ You don’t have to make conversation. Talking, resting quietly, laughing, or even falling asleep are all completely okay.

✨ Afterward, rise slowly, drink water according to your normal needs, and pay attention to how your body responds.

Most importantly: This is your session. Your comfort, consent, and goals matter.

🎉 IN HONOR OF TURNING 30 Today here are : 30 THINGS I HAVE LEARNED IN BUSINESS 🎉

My journey with Touch of Joy started long before I officially opened its doors. At 15 or 16, I was asking for a massage table instead of a car. Since then, business has taught me about passion, integrity, boundaries, mistakes, courage, people—and myself.

Some of these lessons are serious. Some are funny. Every one of them was earned.

1. FOLLOW YOUR PASSION. Follow that thing that gnaws at you from within at the end of the day.

2. Take active steps toward achieving your goal. For me, that looked like asking people to buy things for my business as birthday or Christmas presents when I was a minor. At 15 or 16, I asked for a massage table instead of a car. Maybe for you, it’s your allowance or couch-cushion money.

3. Only deal with people who have integrity. They are the same person all the time, and they do what they say they will do.

4. Ask questions—all the questions. You don’t have to follow every answer, but having information is never a bad thing. Nobody was born with all the answers; everyone had to ask questions.

5. All work is hard. Working for others is hard. Working for yourself is hard. Pick the kind of hard you can live with.

6. People’s bodies and needs change from day to day. Have a plan for each session, but be adaptable.

7. If you don’t have the answer, just say so. That isn’t weakness. It takes strength, honor, and integrity to be honest.

8. Standing firm in your boundaries might make you a bitch—and that’s okay. Boundaries are limits I thoughtfully and confidently hold.

9. You can’t get healthy in a toxic environment.

10. Never settle for less than your worth. Your time, body, and attention are valuable and should be treated as such.

11. Make sure expectations match before any work begins. Both you and your client should understand what to expect from each other.

12. You can’t get time back. Work is important, but so is living and making time for the people who are there for you.

13. Surround yourself with people whose support costs them something. Real support may require time, effort, sacrifice, or action. Words are nice, but they don’t pay the light bill—and words alone cost nothing.

14. Choose stability over extravagance. If you can’t maintain the fantasy without exploiting people, then it isn’t reality.

15. Have your paperwork in order. Keep the text messages, receipts, and emails documenting your conversations so you can establish a timeline.

16. Some customers would rather leave—even if you are the best—than accept accountability. That isn’t a reflection of you or your business.

17. Confronting people is uncomfortable, and continuing to deal with bad behavior is uncomfortable. Pick the discomfort that saves you the most time.

18. Always be early. It’s never a bad thing. If nothing else, it gives you time to bring the right energy into the day.

19. If another human being needs five extra minutes to express what they are feeling, take the time. It might be the most vulnerable they have ever been with anyone in their life.

20. Sometimes your partner is the person who doesn’t want you to succeed. I learned when to cut ties to someone or something that no longer serves you.

21. Celebrate the small wins. Let the compliments sink in—you deserve them.

22. Messing up isn’t necessarily the end of a client relationship, but trying to cover it up or deflect responsibility often will be.

23. Some people want to know things to connect with you; some people want to know things to use against you.

24. Have as many plants as possible. They bring love, energy, and fresh air into your space. 🌿

25. EVERYONE CAN P*E. I know this sounds silly, but many work environments are weird about bathroom breaks. It can feel like we’re expected to hold it, just like we did in school. At Touch of Joy, if either the client or the therapist needs to go, we listen to our bodies.

26. Dress codes are dumb. People should feel comfortable because their bodies’ needs change from day to day. My legs get extremely cold, so sometimes I wear fuzzy pants. Dressing in a way that allows you to think, focus, and do your job well isn’t unprofessional. Comfort doesn’t cancel competence.

27. Trust your gut. If you don’t feel safe, that is reason enough to leave. You can make money later.

28. Understanding the history, etymology, and original intent behind something is the difference between honoring a tradition and simply doing something because it has always been done that way.

29. Pandemics happen, so prepare for the unexpected. Keep a rainy-day fund for both your business and your personal life.

30. If you believe deeply, refuse to let anyone sway your judgment, and have the ovaries to make the jump, you just might achieve your dream of helping people.

Touch of Joy was once just a dream inside a teenager who knew she wanted to help people. Today, it is the result of years of showing up, learning, adapting, making mistakes, protecting what matters, and continuing to believe.

Thank you to every person who has trusted me with their body, their story, and their healing. You have helped shape both Touch of Joy and the woman I have become at 30.

Here’s to the lessons already learned—and all the ones still waiting for me. 💛
