Compassionate, intuitive, treatment-focused bodywork that centers queer, trans, and chronically ill

I'm an intuitive, experienced, integrative massage therapist who focuses on treating pain and limited mobility, as well as injury recovery and relaxation support. I blend swedish, deep tissue, trigger point, neuromuscular, myofascial, and other modalities, as well as energetic work (reiki and healing touch) to support your body. I am currently offering only mobile massage on a part-time basis. Contact me or click "Book Now" on my home page to see current availability and pricing.

Introduction Post:

Hi there and welcome to my little square of the internet! My name is Seamus and I am the LMT of Mycelium Bodywork.

Originally from North Carolina, I moved to the Seattle area in July of 2021. I have been practicing massage since 2018 and level 1 Usui Reiki since 2017.

My curiosity about the body's workings and wisdom began as a response to developing type 1 diabetes in 2007. At the ripe age of twenty this chronic illness felt like a death blow to my sense of invincibility; however, in these last fifteen years the practice of slowing down and listening to what my body is communicating has given me many gifts and cultivated a strength and resilience in me I didn't know was possible.

I believe strength and resilience to be inherent in bodies, as well as the creative sense to continually adapt to changing environments. If you choose to work with me, I will ask you about your environment: How do you spend most of your time? What kind of activities are you into (or not)? Essentially, what positions and movements are you engaging in and how is your body adapting to those environmental stimuli? The body is always doing its best to adapt – a very handy survival strategy. Sometimes, that adaptation leads to dysfunction, stiffness, and pain. Bodywork, then, is simply introducing a balancing environmental stimulus to restore more helpful function and movement in order to treat the origin of pain and stiffness.

I have, as of February 2022, entered a web development bootcamp and am offering mobile massage only, on a part-time basis. If you have questions about my practice, service area, etc. please DM me, text me at the (206) 659-6415, or email me at [email protected].
