Almost every time I have a consultation with a potential customer, I’m asked whether someone can get an infection or contract a disease from a permanent makeup procedure.

The short answer is: no, not from the procedure itself.

Unless you apply makeup to freshly treated skin before it has healed or touch the area with dirty hands during the healing process, there is very little risk of infection.

The reason is simple: everything that comes into contact with your skin is either single-use and disposable or protected with barrier film. Needles, cartridges, and other consumables are discarded after every client. Anything that is not disposable is covered and protected to prevent cross-contamination.

Infection control is one of the most important parts of my profession. Proper sanitation, disposable supplies, barrier protection, and following aftercare instructions are all designed to keep the procedure safe and minimize the risk of contamination, infection, or disease transmission.

And frankly, it’s not just your health that I care about—it’s mine, too. Of course I want my customers to be safe because that’s what a good service provider does. But selfishly, I also want to protect myself, I have zero interest in bringing home anyone’s germs, infections, or diseases. So you can be absolutely sure that cleanliness and sanitation are taken very seriously in my studio.

In other words, your brows, lips, or eyeliner are much more likely to be annoyed by you picking at them during healing than by anything happening during the appointment itself. 😉

Lip Blushing ✨ Before ✨ Right After ✨ Healed

This is a great example of how dramatic the healing process can sometimes look right after the procedure, especially on very pale and sensitive lips.

You can clearly see that the skin had a hard time 💕 There is swelling, bruising, lymph, and irritation visible immediately after. Everything looks intense and honestly a little scary, which is exactly why I wanted to share this example.

Because healing matters more than the first few hours ✨

And once healed, you can see how beautiful and natural the final result became. We restored shape, brought color back to the lips, and created a soft, healthy appearance that fits her face and age beautifully. At the touch up we tweaked the shape once more to achieve better symmetry.

This trip to Lagos marked the first time in my life when I bought the freshest — and cheapest — oysters I’ve ever had 🦪

My boyfriend’s father recommended an oyster farm not far from his place. Getting there felt like a side quest: tiny villages, narrow roads, random turns, and then suddenly you arrive at this very remote shoreline. Apparently the water there is too shallow for normal beachfront development, so instead of hotels and expensive properties, there is an oyster farm.

A much better use of land, if you ask me.

I bought two dozen oysters for 11 euros total. HALF A EURO PER OYSTER. I almost cried in Seattle pricing.

And this wasn’t some tourist market setup either. It was a real working farm. When I walked in, the workers were literally loading oysters into this industrial machine that was cleaning them — maybe from algae, barnacles, or sea growth, I honestly have no idea. I just know the oysters went from the machine directly into my bag.

Peak freshness.

Then the guy casually goes:
“11 euros.”

Sir. This is exactly how oysters should cost.

Before this trip, I learned how to shuck oysters myself - one of the most useful life skills I’ve picked up recently! Right up there with permanent makeup and parallel parking.
