This was my third Independence Day as a U.S. citizen.

To be honest, these are not calm times. I don’t expect them to become calmer anytime soon, and I’m mentally prepared to live through a few more years of uncertainty and turbulence.

What helps me stay afloat is surprisingly simple: My boyfriend, my family, my friends, coming home to my cats after a long day.

Those are the things that keep me grounded and bring me back to a normal state of mind. Then the fireworks on the Fourth of July become the cherry on top—a reminder that even during stormy times, there are still reasons to celebrate and enjoy life.

That mindset also reminds me why I love what I do.

Lately, it seems I can’t control the politics, or the economy. But I can make one small part of someone’s life a little easier.

💋 Lips Immediately After the Procedure 💋

I wanted to share a real, unedited close-up of freshly done lips so you can see what the results actually look like right after a PMU appointment.

✨ This is a beautiful immediate result. In fact, the lips shown here have less swelling, bruising, and irritation than many clients experience right after the procedure.

Every person heals differently, and it is completely normal to have some swelling, small bruises, redness, or temporary unevenness immediately after treatment.

🤍 The close-up photos can make everything look more dramatic than it appears in real life. From a normal conversation distance, freshly done lips typically look much softer than they do under a camera lens.

The good news is that most of the initial swelling and irritation begins to settle within the first few hours after the procedure.

💋 Before • Immediately After • Healed After One Session 💋

This is a great example of a situation where it was possible to extend the color slightly beyond the natural lip border.

With this client, we agreed to go just a tiny bit outside the lower lip line, only by a couple of hairs’ width. Over time, her natural lip border had become less defined, and she wanted her lips to be more visible without using lip fillers.

🤍 Before the procedure, we discussed all the pros and cons, including how pigment placed outside the natural border may age and fade differently over time. After reviewing all options together, we decided this conservative enhancement was the right choice for her goals.

✨ While traditional PMU guidelines often recommend staying strictly within the natural lip border, there are occasional cases where a very subtle extension can create a beautiful, natural looking result when done thoughtfully and with full client understanding.

The healed result shows how a small adjustment can make the lips appear more defined while still looking soft and natural.

✨ Shaded Eyeliner on Hooded & Drooping Eyelids ✨

This is a great example of how a soft shaded eyeliner can be customized for hooded or slightly drooping eyelids.

👁️ When the eyelid skin is not overly sensitive and there are few visible veins, it may be possible to create a larger, more diffused shading effect. In this case, the shading extends beyond the first fold of the eyelid, allowing us to create a lifted, more open appearance.

✨ A design like this can help the eyes look less tired and more defined, even without daily makeup.

🤍 It is important to understand that this style is a bigger commitment than a classic eyeliner. Because the shaded area is larger, it becomes a long-term part of your look and will require color refresh appointments over time to keep it looking its best.
