Please allow yourself extra time when arriving for your appointment. The next several months US 31 will have 1 lane shut down until sometime this fall. This directly impacts the main road by our salon. Please plan accordingly. Thanks 😊
2/6/26 Update: On February 5th, we received an update from INDOT Southeast US-31 Rehab Project Contractor, E & B Paving.
Here is an update of what to expect:
-Beginning February 17th, southbound US-31 from CR-403 to Prather St. will be closed. Driveway and business access within that area will be maintained. This is expected to last through late May/early June.
-There will be rotating access closures of Allhands, W. Utica, and Hauss Ave. as the contractor works through those areas as part of the south bound closure, but no two will be closed at the same time. They also indicated they will keep one lane of these access points open while they work. Each of these access points will only be impacted for a few days with exception of Allhands will be impacted longer. They are working 7 crews along this stretch at the same time to help make this project go faster. Working hours will be from approx. 7am - 5:30pm
-The SCSC Transportation Director and admin from St. John Paul II received the update as well. Each are making appropriate plans to communicate to their respective parents as needed related to impacts to drop-off and pick-up if any.
-Once that phase is complete, work will shift to the Prather St. intersection and the north bound lane of US-31 in late May/early June. When that shift happens, US-31 north bound will be closed until early November with the same practices in place that are listed above as they work across the E. Utica, St. Paul St., and Hauss Ave access points to US-31.
-County, East Jeffersonville, and Charlestown residents that live out CR-403 and use US-31 through Sellersburg to access I-65 and beyond are encouraged to use Stacy Rd, Salem-Noble Rd, and Bethany Rd to E. 10th St. (62) to 265 to access I-65, the INDOT posted detour north to Henryville, or another route during this time to help lessen the traffic impact to the Town's local streets as our residents work to navigate this project impact on our community.
-INDOT will be installing stop signs on US-31 at New Albany Street making it a 4-way stop as part of the south bound closure of US-31. Their goal is to allow improved access to and from US-31 as local traffic will be using this as a bypass.
-INDOT will be installing a traffic light at E. St. Joe Rd and SR-60 to help with additional traffic that may use this as a bypass. However, the installation of this will not be completed until sometime in March.
-We have asked the contractor to keep the Town and schools along US-31 updated on progress, changes, and information that would be important to residents and travelers so we can share it as soon as possible.
We all know this is going to a trying time as this project gets underway. As we endure this, please have patience and become familiar with other routes of travel.
Any questions, concerns, or comments now or during the project need to be directed to INDOT at www.INDOT4u.com or by calling 1-855-INDOT4U (1-855-463-6848). Please keep in mind US-31 is not a Town roadway and this project is an INDOT project. We will work to keep everyone updated and share any information we get as the project progresses with both INDOT and residents. Pavement rehabilitation project to begin on U.S. 31 in Sellersburg
CLARK COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractor E&B Paving, Inc. is scheduled to begin a pavement rehabilitation project on U.S. 31 between Creek Road and Foothill Road in Sellersburg on or after Monday, February 2.
Crews will begin working in the southbound lane of U.S. 31 between Prather Street and County Road 403. The southbound lane will be closed while work is in progress at this location. The northbound lane will remain open. During the southbound lane closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows: U.S. 31 to S.R. 160 to southbound I-65 back to U.S. 31.
INDOT will provide additional information and updates as work progresses via INDOT News, Facebook and X. The overall project is expected to be complete in late fall 2026, weather permitting.
This project is part of a $14.5 million contract awarded to E&B Paving in September 2024. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

About Buckle Up Phone Down
Buckle Up Phone Down is a safety initiative adopted by the Indiana Department of Transportation in late 2023. Unrestrained motorists and passengers, as well as distracted driving continue to be contributing factors in fatal and serious injury crashes on Indiana roadways. Buckle Up Phone Down is one of many efforts to change driver behavior and improve roadway safety across Indiana.
The actions are simple: when you get into a vehicle, buckle up. If you are the driver, put the phone down. Every trip. Every time. Learn more and accept the challenge at BUPDIN.com.
