If you are blessed with oily skin like myself, then you may have noticed that you don’t have the amazing the retention like our dryer friends.

Kind of like staying away from oil based product and glycerin, your own natural oils may be responsible for prematurely breaking down your lash adhesive. Eyelids can be surprisingly oily too.

But you can definitely help fix that! If you wear lash extensions so you can live a lazy life without makeup (🙋‍♀️) then all you have to do is wipe away the excess oil with your favorite cleanser mixed with water on a cotton pad. But if have on makeup, try investing in some oil blotting papers to prevent smearing.

As always remember to wash your lashes with your lash tech’s recommended cleanser at least 1-2 times a day, and follow aftercare guidelines for optimal retention.

Low maintenance with lots of dimension. Most of my balayage clients only get their hair colored 2-3 times a year. Their schedule is normally a full balayage in the spring/summer, a partial balayage in the fall or winter, and refresh the money piece with an accent highlight as needed.

I’ve seen too much gorgeous hair that has been ruined by purple shampoo. Most of my clients know I largely leave your alone as far as products (and even box color 🙊) if you’re happy and it’s not ruining your hair. I feel like it’s better to educate than to shame.

Anyway, you should only need to use purple shampoo 4-6 weeks after your initial color appointment, dependent on your hair’s porosity. That’s because most toners are designed to last that long. So if you’re a regular 4-6 week bleach and tone girl, I actually don’t recommend using purple shampoo at all. That’s because you can eventually dull your color, and in some cases give your hair a purple hue.

And sometimes purple shampoo isn’t even the color you need to correct the unwanted warmth you’re seeing. Purple neutralizes yellow, blue cancels out orange, and green gets rid of red. Brass off and Dark Envy are my favorite blue and green shampoos.

If you’re not sure of what you need ask the stylist that did your hair. Because using the wrong combination can also mess with your color in way you don’t want know about. And just know that everyone lifts warm, and everyone fades warm. Don’t be afraid to ask your stylist (or me) questions. In my opinion, great hair is 10% me and 90% your at home care.
