***PRICE INCREASE??" Its only October but Im already thinking of the new year. 2 years ago I "raised" my prices by "adding" gratuity" that most people were already paying and set a solid price. I made it clear I did not want people to feel obligated to tip above that.
The price of EVERYTHING is going up and at the moment I dont want to raise prices at this time but I also need to increase my income to meet the times as well.
Ive been pushing my Add- Ons for a reason.
Ive made these fun spa add on's reasonably inexpensive (other spa's would charge $15 - $25 for these) to increase revenue as well as ADD VALUE to your service.
Consider adding an exfoliating back scrub. Collagen eye mask, warm foot booties ($5 each) or a facial mask for $10. Add ALL 4 for only $20 ( 75 or 90 min Lux Massage)
Im offering through Oct a back scrub, scented massage oil and pumpkin scent warm hand mitts for only $10! Nov - Dec Ill be offering the same with a cranberry scent!
Paying cash or check helps as well by avoiding credit card fees. Venmo has a slightly lower % fee than credit card. (Personal Venmo is 0%, business venmo charges 1.9% + .10 ).
My cancallation policy is 24 hours or less and you owe 50% of service cost if I cant fill that spot (which i try my best) and 100% service cost for NO SHOWS.

To Talk or Not to Talk during a session. Lets discuss, shall we?
Recently a client/friend brought up a situation that happened during a session with me and our perception of what happened was totally different.
Normally her and I talk most of the massage. Personally, I have guilt with anyone who I massage that I talk with during their whole massage.
Why?
Ive been in the industry for over 20 years and when I worked in Spas talking was a No, No. Dont talk unless the client wants to talk. Dont talk about ourselves. With massage you also learn about Ethics and client/therapist relationships. As the Massage Therapist its up to me to make sure you are comfortable. That you feel safe. That your time with me is about you.
It was very hard to adjust when I started working for myself that ppl wanted to talk. Id always say "You dont have to talk." And an astounding amount of people say "I need to talk!" I personally don't ever want to talk when Im getting a massage. I want to be on the verge of sleep the whole time.
When my client/friend came in for a massage, we didnt talk. I try and gauge how someone is feeling. Follow their lead. When I ask "How are you today? How is your body?" Im reading your body language and tone as well as listening to what you have say. If you sigh or let out and exhausted "ugghh" I think "lets give them rest."
I cant tell you specifically what made me stay quiet but at the end I felt good that her and I didnt talk, that maybe she just needed some peace and quiet and that i let her have that.
Welll...she thought i was mad at her.because we didnt talk!
Totally different from what I thought!
I struggle with talking or not talking. To be honest, Id rather not. I love my clients and want them to use their time with massage to relax. I want to give you the choice to stop talking at any point and try and follow your cues to do so.
So just so you know, if Im quiet its not because Im mad at you.
If I talk when you dont want, just dont reply and I will (hopefully) pick up on that.
But if you're like my one client who always says we talk too much but then proceeds to talk the whole time...thats on you! bahaha!

Im not perfect, but I honestly want to give my clients who respect me, respect my time, respect my business the same.in return.

I wish I could get everyone who wants a massage in but theres just not enough of me to go around! This client who I saw once 1.5 years ago, but who also receives massage regularly with multiple therapists every month, was able to snag a Last Minute appointment. Every Massage is different. Every Massage Therapist uses different techniques. Its good to try new people for different experiences! Thanks for the feedback!
