Okay, my turn. 😂

If we haven’t met yet, hi! I’m Ashley — hairstylist, co-owner of Beauty Pros, chaos coordinator, and depending on the day, part-time therapist. 🤣❤️

I’ve been behind the chair for almost 7 years, and my favorite thing to do is a good transformation. Give me vivids, lived-in blondes, dimensional brunettes, or something that makes us both stare at the before picture afterward like, “Wait…that was YOU?!” 😍

Just please, for the love of all things holy, do not ask me for a perm. 😂
I don’t dislike them.
I don’t prefer not to do them.
I DO NOT DO THEM.
Thankfully, Savana exists. 🤣

Outside of hair, I am aggressively Team Fall. 🍂 My birthday is Halloween, Harry Potter marathons are basically a seasonal requirement, apple c***r wins every time, and I would happily live in a world that smells like cinnamon and stays 65° year-round.

But the part of this questionnaire that probably says the most about me is why I still love doing this job.

I get to meet people I probably never would’ve crossed paths with otherwise. Different lives, different jobs, different experiences, different personalities — and for a little while, they sit in my chair and I get to hear their stories. ❤️

And that chair is something I take pretty seriously.

I want you to leave feeling beautiful, handsome, confident — whatever makes YOU feel like your best self. I want you to know you have a place where you can show up as yourself, laugh, vent, be quiet, be weird, or tell me entirely too much about your life. 😂

As long as being yourself includes being kind, considerate, and not an A-hole, we’re golden. 🤣

More than anything, I hope every person who sits in my chair knows they are loved, important, and worthy. ❤️

🪮 FUN FACT FRIDAY 🤓

What ARE those little gray fuzzies in your hairbrush?!

Good news: your brush isn’t growing mold. 😂

Those little fuzzy rings are basically hairbrush lint—a mixture of tiny fabric fibers from your clothes, towels and bedding, along with dust, dead skin cells, natural scalp oils and leftover hair products.

As you brush, shed hairs wrap around the bristles and catch all that debris, eventually creating those weird little fuzzy clumps.

😬 WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON’T CLEAN IT?
Every time you brush, a dirty brush can redistribute some of that oil, product buildup, dead skin and debris right back onto your freshly washed hair and scalp.

That can leave hair looking greasier, duller or dirtier faster, and all that buildup can make the brush less effective at detangling and smoothing. A neglected brush can also harbor more microorganisms over time—especially when oils, skin debris and moisture are hanging around.

Basically… washing your hair and then using a filthy brush is a little like taking a shower and putting your dirty clothes right back on. 😂

🧼 HOW TO CLEAN YOUR BRUSH:
Pull or cut out all the trapped hair first. A rat-tail comb, brush-cleaning rake or tweezers works great.

Then scrub between the bristles with warm water + a little shampoo and an old toothbrush or cleaning brush. Rinse and let it dry completely bristle-side down.

⚠️ Wooden, natural-bristle or cushioned brushes shouldn’t be soaked. Scrub them with a damp, soapy cleaning brush instead.

⏰ HOW OFTEN?
Remove trapped hair about once a week and give your brush a good cleaning every 2–4 weeks.

Use a lot of dry shampoo, hairspray, oils or styling products? Aim closer to every 1–2 weeks, since buildup happens faster.

And here’s the easiest rule:

If you can see the fuzzies… your brush is already asking for a bath. 😂🛁

✨ Your hairbrush is basically collecting receipts from everything your hair has touched.

🍂 MEET THE PROS: FALL EDITION! 🍂

We thought it was time to reintroduce you to the people behind the chairs at Beauty Pros — but obviously we had to make it fall. 😂 Over the next several weeks, we’re letting each of our Pros take a turn answering some very important questions… like what they love doing behind the chair, what they absolutely do NOT 😂, and where they stand on the important issues: pumpkin spice, apple c***r, and fall vs. summer.

First up is Savana! ❤️

Savana has been in the beauty industry for 5 years, LOVES doing perms (which some of us simply cannot relate to 🤣), is working on expanding her cutting skills, and says her favorite part of this job is building relationships with her clients and eventually becoming friends. 🥹

Outside the salon, she’s firmly Team Fall 🍂 — give her the colors, pumpkin scents, iced apple c***r, scary movies, and Hocus Pocus.

But the biggest thing happening in Savana’s world this fall has nothing to do with hair…

👶 Baby Myles is arriving in October! 💙

Savana plans to keep working as long as she comfortably can, but babies aren’t exactly known for respecting appointment books. 😂 As we get closer to Myles making his debut, appointments may need to be adjusted and maternity leave could begin with very little notice.

So if you’ve been meaning to get in with Savana before baby, now is definitely the time to get that appointment on the books. ❤️

And her answer to what she hopes people feel in her chair pretty much sums up what we want Beauty Pros to be:

🚨 MYTH BUSTER MONDAY #03 🚨

MYTH: “Purple shampoo makes my blonde lighter.”

BUSTED. 💥💜

Purple shampoo is TONER—not lightener. It deposits violet pigment to help cancel out unwanted yellow tones. It cannot actually make your hair lighter.

And here’s where we need to have a little purple-shampoo intervention. 😂

More purple ≠ more blonde.

If you’re using it every wash, leaving it on forever, or basically marinating your hair in it, that violet pigment can build up—especially on porous blonde hair. Instead of looking brighter, your blonde can start looking dull, dingy, muddy, overly cool, or even a little lavender. 😬

The good news? Sometimes your blonde doesn’t need more highlights—it needs a good reset. ✨

A professional clarifying treatment can help remove excess product, mineral buildup, and unwanted toning deposits that may be making your blonde look darker or duller than it really is. We can assess what’s actually causing the problem and choose the right treatment instead of automatically reaching for more lightener.

So before you decide your blonde needs to be blonder…
