The Apothecary has 4 upcoming workshops for the month of October! 🍁🧡

The focus for these workshops is support your Immune System and Nervous System. Supporting your Nervous System is important during cold and flu season, because when we are stressed, it can diminish our Immune System’s ability to fight off infections. Supporting our Immune System during cold and flu season can help ward off illness or decrease the longevity and severity of the sickness.

I am super excited to do the Herbal Explorations class! This is an in-depth experience with Linden. You will receive a 1 ounce tincture (Linden and Brandy) and 2 ounce of the herb. You can work with the herb daily and log your experience. After 2 weeks, we will meet and discuss our experience with the herb, any fun experimentations we did, and 2 herbal allies. Linden promotes calmness, helps with cold symptoms, and help facilitate sleep. It is also a moistening herb, which is important in the herbal world and I’ll explain why in the class. It is one of my favorite herbs to put in a calming tea and a heart/grief blend! If you can make the Oct 15 at 5:30-6pm meet-up, please pick up the tincture and herb within 2 days of that date.

Wow, September 20th marks the 6 month anniversary of the Apothecary of Shelton! 🥳My heart has been filled with gratitude, love and joy from all the support from the community! Starting a business comes with all its worries; but my biggest worry was if the Apothecary and what it carries was what the community wanted and needed. This last 6 months has shown me that it is filling that need and want. I look at all the loyalty cards and I’m filled with so much appreciation and thankfulness!

I truly hope it continues to become a place the community can rely when they aren’t feeling their best, a place everyone knows they are welcomed, and a place that shows it truly wants what’s best for people’s physical, mental and spiritual well-being! 💫

It has brought me so much joy to meet everyone who has walked through the doors. The hours of conversations and vulnerability within those conversations does not go unrecognized nor unappreciated. You are all so wonderful and incredible for who you are and inspire me. I’ve truly enjoyed meeting all of you, your family members and your little ones! 🌟

Growth is so important (esp in the plant world) and the Apothecary will continue to grow with new products, workshops and events! I am open to any suggestions or feedback anyone has and I want this to continue to be a place people enjoy visiting and rely on for their well-being.

I have some upcoming Events and Promotions! I can’t believe it, but Sept 20th is the Apothecary’s 6 month anniversary being open! I am having all the feels of gratitude and appreciation reflected on almost 6 months providing the community with natural health options. I will having a little promotion that day. Details to come!

This weekend’s tea tasting and debut of new tea blend getting added the wall is Mend Blend! This immune promoting and calming tea has Elderberry, Lemon Balm, Rosehips, Moringa, Licorice Root, Marshmallow Root and Ginger Root. Stop by to try it and, possibly, pick up an ounce or 2 for $3.50/oz. I experienced a lot of technically difficulties trying to get that label printed, hence the delay in the post. 🫖

Lastly, opening a business and then trying to relish in the summer has me beat! I know a lot of people are feeling it and the Apothecary has some tinctures and teas to help with that! But that being said, I am planning out the next month to two with workshops, mini events and some changes to my hours! I’m working on the posters today and tomorrow to give you those dates, updates and changes, so stay posted! I’m really excited to start teaching again! This weeks tea is Adapto-Immuno Tea featuring Astragalus, Schisandra Berry, Goji Berry, Elderberry, Licorice Root, Eleuthero, and Ashwagahndha! This tea is perfect for the end of summer transition. Because the summer tends to be full of activities and more day light, our circadian rhythm may be thrown off and we may experience more stress due to it and our busy season. This tea is full of adaptogens and immune promoting herbs that may assist you adrenals and may deter a cold or a worsening cold. This tea will permanently be on the herb wall. Stop by to try to cold (I think it’s better warm) and pick up an ounce for $4! 🫖

This weekend is Lemon Days with sheltonshoppingadventures! On Friday,I will be doing make your own Tea Blend for $6 featuring Lemon Balm, Lemongrass, Rooibos, Ginger, Chamomile, and Damiana.

Stop by from 1-730 to see Ember from Regain for a $20 energy clearing and rebalancing mini-session! I will be providing a complimentary tea bag to anyone who receives a session. She was here on in July and the clients that saw her came out of the session full of praise for her healing abilities! If you can’t make it on Friday, she will be here on the 4th Saturday of the month, Aug 22nd.

I will also be doing my weekly tea tasting. Trinity Lemon tea is made with Lemon Balm, Honeybush, Ginger, Lemon Peel, Lemongrass and Licorice Root! 🍋

Lastly, I will have a table of items with gently used goods, mostly clothes. It’ll be pay what you want and all proceeds go to the community fund!

This week’s tea is Smoke Support Tea. It has Chamomile, Mullein, Linden, Licorice Root, Marshmallow Root, Peppermint, Horehound, Pearly Everlasting (that I foraged) and Stevia. This tea supports your lungs from the wildfire smoke, soothes the throat, and helps calms the nerves. I instantly regretted adding 5% of Horehound to the formula as it became super bitter and I do this every time. It is now a floral sweet tasting tea! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to replicate it, so stop by to try it today and tomorrow. I will be closed on Sunday!

I went up to Brinnon for a hike and brought this cute foraging pouch that I just added to the shop! It folds up into a convenient little bundle and then when you’re ready to forage any plant life, fungi, or rocks, you can attach it to your waist or backpack. Stop by to pick one up!

On my smokey hike, I foraged for Pearly Everlasting! I love this little flower as it’s dainty and tastes sweet and floral. It helps soothe the throat and lungs. I keep it on hand in my home apothecary for cold season. My throat gets affected by the wildfire smoke, so I have been adding it to my teas. It is abundant herb and easy to forage; but I do have a few, but not all, foraging tips for you!
-If you are on an out and back trail, forage on your way back, so you can see how much of the plant is available and how big the patches are. This helps you plan how much you can take without over harvesting
-Forage a few from a patch and not the whole patch. Good rule of thumb for most plants is 1 out of 7.
-Pay attention to plants that have a lot of bug life on them as it’s their home and food source. Bugs love Pearly Everlasting as you can see in the picture, so I made sure to be aware of harvesting the plants without any bugs on it (or that I could see). Because of this awareness, I was able to see so many different bugs and spiders that relied on the plant. Spiders will make a web between plants, so try not to disrupt their home and food source.
-Only forage what you know. If you don’t know it, take a picture and identify at home
-Read the local rules about what you are allowed to forage and also respect the local Indigenous community
