A long ingredient list usually isn’t doing more for your skin. It’s the cost of putting water in a jar.
Water needs emulsifiers to stay mixed, preservatives so it doesn’t spoil, and fragrance to cover the rest. Take the water out and most of the list goes with it.
What’s left in the Face Balm is five ingredients, tallow first, a fat close to the oils your skin already makes. Many people tell us it’s the first thing that lasted past mid-afternoon.

Most bakuchiol on the market is water-based. The molecule isn’t.
Bakuchiol is the plant compound that performs like retinol for collagen and cell turnover, without the photosensitivity, the purge, or the pregnancy warning. It’s genuinely good chemistry. The problem is how most brands deliver it.
Bakuchiol is fat-soluble. To do its work it has to reach the fibroblast layer, and a fat-soluble molecule needs a lipid to travel in. A water-based serum leaves most of it sitting on the surface.

Joe here, one half of Tau Tau Skin.
Before I was the guy mixing tallow in our workshop, I was a Marine helicopter pilot. Multiple deployments. Came home. Most of the people I served with came home too.
Some didn’t.
Monday is Memorial Day, so I wanted to send something before the weekend kicks off.
I’m still here, so I didn’t make the ultimate sacrifice. Maybe that disqualifies me from speaking on it. I’ll say it anyway.
For me, this weekend is 100 percent about hot dogs, the beach, family, and long weekends. Americana at its truest. The people we honor didn’t die so we’d sit around feeling guilty about being alive. They died so we could live.
I have one ask of you today. It’s pretty simple. Live, love, and enjoy the freedoms you have like there’s no tomorrow. Remember the fallen with love and gratitude. Then fire up the grill. Take the long weekend and enjoy it. That’s the whole point.
