Here’s the thing with acne… it’s rarely ONE thing.

You can make every attempt to treat it and STILL be breaking out because of hormones, lifestyle, supplements + sometimes… even what you’re eating.

But this list is not me telling you to cut everything out.

These are just some of the sneaky triggers I look at with acne clients when their skin isn’t clearing like we’d expect.

So instead of eliminating everything at once:
🔎 look for patterns
🥤 check supplements, protein powders + energy drinks
🔄 change ONE thing at a time
📸 give it time + track what your skin is doing

It takes a little investigating + a WHOLE LOT of patience to treat acne. This is exactly where having an estie in your corner helps.

We can look at the whole picture + figure out what’s actually worth changing for your skin specifically.

Save this for your next flare up + let me know if you want part 2 in the comments 👇

One of your barrier’s biggest jobs? Keeping hydration locked IN + irritants locked OUT. 🔐

When that barrier gets overwhelmed, well… cue all those red flags you just swiped through. 🚩

And what’s our first instinct? Try to fix every little symptom by doing MORE.

More exfoliation. More actives. More steps. More guessing.

But sometimes, LESS is more.

Instead of doing the most:
🫧 switch to a gentle cream cleanser
🧴 focus on hydration + barrier support
⏸️ pause exfoliants & strong actives
☀️ protect with SPF
📲 text your estie

Your esthetician can help pinpoint what got your barrier here + create a plan to get it back on track.

📌 save this for the next time your barrier needs a break

pretty sure every estie has had this exact convo 😂

I’m a BIG believer that if something can be done easily at home, it doesn’t belong in my treatment room.

So how do I take facials from generic to intentional?

I can’t give away alllll my secrets (not yet, at least), but here’s my blueprint:

🧴One base mask for the main concern

🧪A complementary mask for the secondary concern

💥Boost with powders/serums based on what the skin needs

This is exactly how masking becomes intentional & why no two treatments ever feel the same.

Because if a client can do it at home, what’s the value of seeing a professional? 🤍✨

After all this time in the treatment room, believe me when I say: the skin analysis is the most underrated part of the facial. 🔬

It’s where the real solutions live… but only if you know the right questions to ask.

Any estie can ask “What are your skin concerns today?”

But diving deeper during the consultation will help to spot patterns instead of chasing symptoms.

The right questions help you recognize if a client is dealing with:
💧 Dryness vs Dehydration
💥 Congestion vs Acne
🔎 Sensitivity vs Sensitization
🍂 Seasonal Flare Ups vs Ongoing Concerns

THIS is how treatments stop feeling generic and start feeling intentional💫

Esties, what’s one question you never skip during the consult? 👇
