I’m sorry that I’ve been terrible about posting. Life happens. The life is that I’ve been SUPER busy with taking care of myself, my family and this business 🙏🏽❤️

I got a new boo in the meantime! dryer giving me everything that I need for drying my curly clients (and myself for that matter). I’ll post some vids soon so that you can see it in action.

Lady O had inquired about some hair color just before school let out. She isn’t new to this color life because she shared some purple streaks with me a few years back. However, this was the first time doing an advanced technique on her ends to boost the tone of the emerald and …..WOW😍!

I also painted her blonde babylights back into some of her ends to bring some sunshine to the entire look.

Needless to say she was quite pleased with what I did. The look of astonishment after was entirely worth it. This is only the beginning, I KNOW, yet I’m truly excited to assist her in outwardly expressing her inner artist.

I’m trying to do better with the hair photos y’all. The sun was out and I’m a new level of alert. My clients are getting back into their fitness and are asking for workout friendly styles. Wet molded Loc styles are my favorite and hold up under intense sweat! Just remember to keep your bandana on to catch the sweat! Welcome back, Spring🌻

Hey Sis, we need to talk.

I have seen an alarming social media trend of braiders posting the true cost & value of their work, only to be horribly berated by other black women in the comments.

Let’s discuss something called Internalized Misogyny. Wikipedia defines “…Misogyny is the hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls. Women who experience internalized misogyny may express it through minimizing the value of women, mistrusting women, and believing gender bias in favor of men.”

I see post of women bragging about paying $200 or less for 3-6 hours (or more) of a braiders cost. The absolute worst is some bragging about going to West African countries and paying considerably less (knowing full well that this is not ample compensation for those stylist time or effort. I KNOW about the exchange rate of American currency which makes what some of you are doing even more disgusting.

This is a hard conversation and I’m already prepared for some people to get defensive. Welp! “A hit dog gonna holler” (like the grandmothers used to say).

Let’s take a moment and think about how we can invest in our community stylist and invest in them like we do other designer brands. Let’s stand in gratitude for the black stylist who are delivering their best artistic creations to you to make your personal style SING.
If you cannot do this, by all means, get the training to do your braids at home.
