This beautiful client of mine is a young mom who decided to refresh her look after her new baby 😍 We cut a goooood 6-7 inches! But before that, we gave her a deep cleansing and conditioning with Moroccanoil products, prepped with 21 Benefits by Pureology Professional Color Care, Surface Hair's smoothing balm and Kenra Professional's blow dry spray. These products combined with a round brush blow dry and flat iron resulted in a silky smooth blow out all while keeping her curls protected and intact!

So I just realized today that I've had this page for almost 10 years! While I haven't always been very interactive on here... it feels so good to have helped so many curly girls (and guys!) embrace their hair in all its glorious kinks, curls, and waves. Looking forward to many more!

It's Tuesday! And the club is going up today!....The curly club that is 😏 A lil tip for you guys (I believe this is #943... totally not making these numbers up): Apart from starting at your ends and working your way up, using the right tool to detangle is crucial. My current favorite is the Denman Paddle Brush. The lack of plastic balls at the tips and the flexibility of the cushion will help prevent breakage and make for a smoother experience!
Good evening! Aaannnd we're back for Curly Tip Tuesday this week! We all know we should be deep conditioning our hair...but it's also important to remember that we need a protein/moisture balance especially for those of us who color our hair or have any sort of damage. In order to achieve that, I usually recommend a moisture treatment every week to two weeks and a protein treatment about every 6 weeks. Enjoy!

Curly Tip Tuesday! So, many people ask me how often they should be shampooing their curls. Some enjoy doing so once a week, some twice, some more! Everyone's different. However, if you're shampooing your hair more than once a week and your curls are feeling dry...try mixing some conditioner into your shampoo! It'll lessen the harshness of the cleansing agents in the shampoo and will provide some conditioning benefits. Enjoy! And let me know what you think!
Curly Tip Tuesday! So... unfortunately, as curly girls a lot of us fall victim to being "product junkies" in the process of trying to find our holy grail products. Although it can be fun trying things out, it can also be exhausting! To help maximize your curling product, whether it be a gel or cream, make sure you're separating your hair into sections (Around 2-4 depending on your hair), make sure your hair is thoroughly wet and really take the time to rake your product through each section with your fingers!
Alright, belated Curly Tip Tuesday! We already know winter can have our hair and skin feeling dry...which can include our scalp! Dry/malnourished scalp = dry/malnourished hair 😣 So! First of all, drink plenty of water (about half your weight in ounces for most people). Secondly, try a hot oil treatment with jojoba oil or olive oil. Gently warm up the oil on the stove, massage into your scalp and let it sit with a plastic cap for about 15-30 minutes before shampooing and conditioning. Happy scalp, happy hair!

We accidentally skipped Curly Tip Tuesday 🥺....BUT here's a lil Throwback Thursday to a tip I shared years ago that I still find useful. Happy curls!
It's cloudy outside but not to us cuz our hair extends to about the size of the sun....Yayy! Also!..Curly Tip #74- For second day curls, place most of your hair in a loose pony before bed and leave a few face framing pieces out so they don't get squished. In the morning, spritz with a leave in or water, fluff, and go!
Well hey!! It's Curl Tip Tuesday!
One comment I hear from my curly hair clients pretty often is that they don't know how to use a diffuser or that it makes their curls frizzier. Here's a couple of suggestions... If the blow dryer's fan is on high, try using it on medium. Also, scoop the hair into the diffuser with your hand and dry each section for about 15-20 seconds at a time. The less you move the dryer around, the less frizz you'll create! Patience is key. Try it one day when you're not in a rush to see how it works for you!

Starting a new thing for my page called Curl Tip Tuesday!
For today, I'd like to share how we can manage our curls in the rain. A couple weeks ago we had a pretty rainy few days and we all know curls have a field day when there's humidity. Although frizziness is in our hairs' nature, it can be made worse with moisture in the air because our wants to absorb aaalllll the moisture. So in preparation for our next rainy day, try deep conditioning your hair once a week! Apply your favorite moisture mask (my favorite is Moroccanoil pictured below), leave it on with a plastic cap for about 15-30 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Also, you can include it in your next service at the salon as a stand alone treatment or an add on!
