⚠️ warning long post ‼️ Today my son Jett and I were involved in a hit and run accident on the interstate in Sioux Falls. The car side swiped me on my left side. Then they lost control of their vehicle and spun out in front of my car. I laid on my horn to warn the 5-7 cars behind me. I was able to keep control of my car and then stopped about 20 feet from them. The car then did the unthinkable and drove off like nothing happened. I pulled over to the side of the road and called 911. Jett and I were pretty shook up but i tried to remain calm to show Jett everything was ok. As i was sitting there waiting for the police i was feeling so scared and wondering why no other cars stopped. I was trying to just remind myself that things could have turned out a lot worse and just to be thankful.
After about 15 minutes a blue pickup pulls up behind me and a man comes to my window and asks if we are ok saying he saw the whole thing. I instantly feel a sense of relief to have at least one witness to this accident and to have someone there to wait with us. I asked him to get in the car so he wasn't standing on the side of the interstate. He proceeded to get in and introduces himself as Dan. I immediately start to tear up and tell him that's my brothers name. And then tell him my name is Rachael. He smiles and says "that's my sisters name and i got the plate number for you" I'm an emotional wreck at this point and have no question that this was "A God Thing".
The cop was able to make contact with the owner of the other car and our information was exchanged. All because this man Dan decided to help a complete stranger. I will never forget today and I will forever be grateful for this act of random kindness. God is so real and shows up when we need him most.
