Braids are a protective style, but they don’t magically protect your hair if your hair isn’t being cared for underneath.
While your braids are installed, your hair still needs:
✨ Moisture to prevent dryness and breakage
✨ A healthy scalp environment
✨ Proper cleansing when needed
✨ Lightweight products that support your natural hair
The goal isn’t just to wear braids — it’s to take them down and still have healthy, thriving hair underneath.
This is why I’m always sharing products and routines that help you maintain your hair while it’s braided.
What’s one thing you struggle with most while wearing braids: dryness, itching, buildup, or breakage?

🚫 Myth: The tighter the braids, the longer the style will last.
✅ Fact: Longevity comes from proper technique—not excessive tension.
A well-installed set of braids should feel secure and comfortable. Tightness doesn’t make a style last longer; it only puts unnecessary stress on your hair and scalp.
Braids that are installed with too much tension can lead to:
• Scalp irritation and tenderness
• Small white bumps around the hairline
• Headaches
• Breakage
• Thinning edges over time
A quality braid installation is about clean parting, consistent braiding, and the right amount of tension—not pain.
If your style is so tight that it hurts to sleep, gives you headaches, or leaves your scalp inflamed, that’s not a sign of a longer-lasting style. It’s a sign your hair is under too much stress.
Healthy hair should always come first. A protective style should protect your hair while still giving you a beautiful, long-lasting look.

🚨 Your protective style should be protecting your hair—not damaging it.
Small white bumps, headaches, thinning edges, and an inflamed scalp aren’t “just part of getting braids.” They’re signs your hair may be under too much tension.
Healthy braids should feel secure, not painful.
