Yesterday my client left my salon in tears.

It's not what you think. She had happy tears when she saw her finished color and cut. She love it and how she looked.

In this business, we're not only changing their hair. We change the way they see themselves and how they feel about themselves.

This business is about connection as much it is about skills. Days like this remind me why I do this.

Days like this are my why.

Most people don't know how to wash their hair properly. Do you? Here are my golden rules for a perfect hair wash.

1. Wet the hair.

2. Add shampoo to the roots and massage in. It probably won't later much and it's not supposed to the first round. Adding more shampoo won't help either.

3. Risne the hair. It don't have to be a complete rinse, just get most of the shampoo out.

4. Shampoo again starting at the roots. This time it should lather unless it has a bunch of product build up in it. In that case repeat steps 3 and 4 again.

5. Rinse very well to get all of the shampoo out.

6. Squeeze as much of the water out as you can. This is an important step.

7. Add Conditioner sarting at the ends and work your way to up the hair towards the scalp. Tip: don't start at the roots or your hair will look greasy right after washing. Feel free to klet this sit for a couple minutes.

8. Rinse the hair out. It's ok if a little conditioner is left on the ends but not a lot.

9. Towel dry the hair gently. Don't rough it up or your hair will be more frizzy. The best towels are microfiber or cotton t-shirt matertial although terry cloth towels work fine but can rough up the utile more than the others.

10. Add heat protectant and styling products and style as usual.
