Part 3

After that night, I stopped listening to his words.

I started watching his actions.

And baby…
the math wasn’t mathing.

The good morning texts became inconsistent.

His phone suddenly needed to be face down all the time.

And every time we were together, there was this strange urgency to leave by a certain hour.

At first, I made excuses for him.

Because that’s what women do when we’re in love.

We explain away things we’d immediately recognize in someone else’s relationship.

“He works hard.”

“Maybe he’s stressed.”

“I’m probably overthinking.”

But one thing about intuition…

She doesn’t stop talking just because you ignore her.

One Saturday morning, I called him.

No answer.

A few hours later, I called again.

No answer.

By evening, I finally got a text.

“Sorry babe. I’ve been asleep all day.”

Asleep.

All day.

Now ladies…

Have you ever looked at a text message and instantly knew somebody was lying? 👀

Because that’s exactly how I felt.

I didn’t have proof.

Just a feeling.

A heavy feeling sitting right in my chest.

And for the first time since meeting him at that museum…
