This Memorial Day weekend, I also want to honor my Opa, Eugene Sing.

He served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Growing up, he was the quiet gentle soul in the family. When Oma would punish me, he’d secretly sneak me Hershey bars and chuckle while shaking his head at her dramatic antics. 😂🍫

As I got older, I realized those little moments said a lot about who he was — kind, patient, and soft-hearted beneath a quiet exterior.
