I wrote a piece that touches on agency, called Islands of Coherence.

In my experience with my chosen work, it has long been a quest to understand the somatic impacts of all that goes on around us, and how bodywork might connect a person with their call to respond to the social and planetary injustice challenges of our time. This is a topic larger than any one piece of writing can ever capture. But it always comes through.

It is important for us to feel that we are capable of standing up for what we believe in, and this is no small feat when met with adverse conditions, which show up in all kinds of ways all around us.

This is not the message of this piece, but your ability to be in less pain in your body, to turn down the nervous system's vigilance and stress responses, and to feel more expansive, are all building blocks to being capable of showing up. May you care for yourself through all that shows up as a challenge to you on the world stage, such that you feel able to show up. There is no shortage of reasons to shrink back, but now calls for something different.

The Grateful Cup made sure we were all ready for the new year! 💚🙏🏻🍏

Amidst the first days in the new space, slowly catching up on all the small things that come with a big move, and opening the new space for the details to settle in as they will, it's been just sweet to think of all the lovely moments that were shared during EWTA's open house, and all who brought life and light to the new space in its initial moments as EWTA's new home, with just their presence.

I want to express a deep gratitude to Darious of ZagOn Beauty, for facilitating many moments of deep peace and beautiful energetic resonance. It was a delightful, healing, and grounding gift to everyone present, to have your magical and intuitive sounds to gently drop into for the first moments of the new year.

Kafari's music enchanted the afternoon and all who were able to be in the presence of his Musical Devas. I would like to let folks know that he will be at Lamb's in South Portland for a Winter residency, on Thursday evenings through February, and his albums are available for purchase on Bandcamp: https://kafarimusic.bandcamp.com/album/riffs-and-lullabies-vol-ii

Last and not least, The Grateful Cup deserves a delicious thank you for doing a small catering of smoothies and wellness shots. They were certainly a colorful focal point of our offerings tables, and brought people together in the spirit of taking our first steps together into the new year feeling nourished and enlivened! Thank you Sam for making this happen, and I can't wait to host another event se we can do it again!

Happy new year everyone.
We are living through incredibly challenging times. How we show up for and with each other, I believe, matters tremendously.
My hope is that my work may continue to help us stay grounded in our bodies and our communities, and stay intact with what we most believe in, that in our politicized world our healing and spiritual and political work become one and the same, and even if it feels like an uphill battle, that we may grasp hands and hold on better together.

For 2024: Introducing Tiered Rates
A better way of doing sliding scale rates at EWTA.

To the best of my knowledge, EWTA was one of the first practices locally to commit to sliding scale rates a few years back. It's exciting to see sliding scale models beginning to take hold in our community, in spaces where wellness can be accessed: massage and yoga studios are among the leaders in the trend toward community-centric economic models in wellness, along with Direct Primary Care models.

EWTA is primarily an orthopaedic practice, devoted to true somatic healing, and is always accepting new clients. Pass it on!

Rates Wellness should be a birthright, not a privilege. EWTA's sliding scale is in place with the intention of reaching chronically injured persons in low or limited income brackets afford needed pain...
