Dermaplaning is a super easy way to remove dead skin, facial hair, and other grime, leaving your skin smooth, glowing, and refreshed. Better yet, it can help your skin care products to absorb more effectively and even help makeup go on more smoothly.

Dermaplaning is not recommended for people with certain conditions, including:

Skin conditions
Active acne, cold sores, eczema, psoriasis, skin rashes, sunburn, or skin cancer

Medications
Taking Accutane or Isotretinoin within the past six months, or using prescription retinol within a week of treatment

Other health conditions
Uncontrolled diabetes, blood coagulation disorders, heart failure, or a history of organ transplant

Treatments
Recent chemical peels, chemotherapy, radiation, or facial surgeries

Other considerations
Pregnancy, IVF, or other fertility treatments, active seizures, or an allergy to stainless steel
You should also avoid tanning beds and direct sunlight for two weeks before and after dermaplaning. After treatment, you should simplify your skincare routine and avoid products with potent anti-aging ingredients
