A Heartfelt Farewell from Walt’s Barber Shop:
Dear friends, valued customers, and cherished members of our community,
After over 50 wonderful years of cutting hair, sharing stories, and forging friendships, it is with a mix of nostalgia and gratitude that I announce the closing of Walt’s Barber Shop. As I approach my 86th birthday this month, I have made the bittersweet decision to retire and spend more time with my family.
Walt’s Barber Shop has always been more than just a place to get a haircut; it has been a second home—a gathering space where laughter echoed, stories were shared, and lifelong bonds were formed. From the first snip to the last trim this month, I have been honored to be a part of so many lives. Whether you came in for a quick buzz cut, a classic style, or just to chat about life, each of you has left an indelible mark on my heart.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to every single person who has walked through our doors over the decades. Your loyalty and support have meant everything to me, and I have loved being a part of your lives—celebrating milestones such as your child’s first haircut, preparing for your wedding day, attending proms, and giving haircuts to the Pomperaug boys' football and sports teams, and sometimes even offering a listening ear during tough times.
As I embark on this new chapter filled with family gatherings, quiet mornings, and hopefully a few naps, I encourage all of you to continue fostering the sense of community we have built together. Support one another, cherish those moments, and remember to laugh as much as we did in the shop.
Thank you for the unforgettable memories, the camaraderie, and the love. I will miss you all dearly, but I carry each of you with me as I turn the page to this next adventure.
With all my love and appreciation,
Walt 💈❤️
Keep an eye on social media for a time we will plan to have a day for everyone to stop by the shop.
Walt’s leather vest was on the coat rack and someone took it with them by mistake earlier this week. If you happen to have it just let him know.
Thanks

Happy New Year to everyone.
Walt will be having a slight change in hours for 2025.
Nothing major, just a 2 hour break mid-day on Tuesday,Wednesday and Friday.
As a reminder the shop will be closed from Jan 23-30th and back open Friday the 31st.
As always thank you for your continued support.
Walt has a pair of glasses someone left in the barber chair.
He thinks the client is “Blake”
Walt know faces and not always names.
If you left your glasses at the shop, he’s got them and is in the shop until noon tomorrow. If it’s after hours you can contact Jeff at 203.709.1423 and I’ll get them to you.

Thank You to Brian, Ally and the Amazing staff at Julio's Woodfired Pizza & Grill for making Walt’s 84th birthday celebration, in his words, “The best birthday ever”
Here’s to another trip around the sun Walter. Happy Birthday
Good Morning,
Walt needed to have an unexpected procedure done this past weekend. He is recovering nicely but needs a week to relax and build his strength back. The barber shop will be closed until 2/14. Thank you for your patronage.

Walt sends condolences to the Mohl family, the CT State Troopers and all men in blue. Sergeant Mohl was not only a hero but a dear friend and patron. May he rest In peace.
Walt and Catherine had their annual Thanksgiving apple pie baking tonight.
Catherine made a great video to highlight the evening.
