Lesson learned! Read for procedure, ingredients, and takeaways from one stylist to another.
Balayage paint followed with a richly pigmented color melt using all Wella] . My daughter didn’t know exactly what she wanted but not plain brown not too red not too copper 😅. As someone who is NOT that experienced with reds, I’m lucky that she always lets me experiment 🙃!
This is what I decided to play with ⬇️
We did a full freehand balayage paint with Wella] Freelights and 30 vol. processesed to orange-yellow (one thing I’ve learned is to not overlift, warmth supports warmth). I used 6/77 Color Touch for her roots for a rich warm brown and combined- get this-
a mixture of /77 (Brown/Brown) 7/43 (Red/Gold) 6/4 (Red Brown) and 7/1 (Ash). Adding ash tones to your reds and coppers can give them a slightly smoky tint that can take the edge off the intensity of the copper and add a subtle purple haze to reds when they have little to no background color. In the end, I think I covered up too much of the balayage and would have either lifted the balayage to one level higher or gone one level lighter on my gloss shade but she liked it, and I learned something. After 24 years hairdressing this just proves that we can still make mistakes, learn what to improve, and keep growing. What’s the latest thing you’ve learned by doing??

Hi all! This week has been extremely difficult for me due to my fathers sudden passing. I will begin texting and emailing anyone that was scheduled for this week tomorrow. Please be patient with me as the upcoming weeks are pretty full. I will be adding extra hours as necessary to accommodate as many of you in a timely fashion as I can.

✨How low can ya go?
Going darker. There are just as many elements to going darker with dimension as there are to bringing in highlighting! This may involve -filling the hair with a fist coat of color-
Applying a base color, low lighting , and foiling or painting or both.- tipping out ends - root melt and gloss- conditioning or protein treatments- and a number of other things depending on your starting point and goals 🤗 Going darker while showing those ripples of rich tones, is a specialty service and takes the same amount of time as a balayage or foilyage.
Or, it can be as simple as an allover color. If you’re a new guest thinking of a big change or just a new color for the season, please choose a color consultation (under hair color and other) appointment in my booking link!
Spring is a great time to go for it!! ✨After , gloss, specialty dimensional balayage, before, after!! #
✨Night Light✨
Literally. Every time I finish a dimensional blonding session at night it’s almost impossible for me to get a true to tone photo! Some of that is just lighting and some is surely that I’m not a great photographer 😅.....If you’ve also been struggling with this you are not alone! However my client’s color looked beautiful and we were both super pleased with it- that’s the most important thing ❤️. I made this little viddie to show how my iPhone tries to color-correct and the color shifts from bright to brassy. One tip that I have learned is that video will tend to show the true tone more often than stills. What experience have you had with taking photographs at night?
