Sabita Holistic Center
We offer workplace and in‑center wellness services that help people reduce stress, ease pain, and recover from heavy workloads. We are more than chair massage.
We support teams who spend long hours sitting, standing, focusing, or caring for others. https://mtr.bio/realisticholisticchick Sabita Holistic Center is a local woman-owned business in Southport started by Sabita Kanhai in 2002, with the passion to bring integrative health into a friendly, nurturing and private atmosphere that allows people to feel good and get better quicker. SHC partners with organizations and individuals who want to move through work and life with less pain and less overwhelm. Many workplaces are full of people who are tense, exhausted, and carrying far more than anyone can see, from long hours at a desk to emotional labor to complex health journeys. We offer hands-on care and simple, practical tools that help people release tension, regulate their nervous systems, and feel safer and more at ease in their bodies. For organizations, we bring support right into your workplace through on-site stress relief sessions, recovery support for desk-based employees, and workshops on nervous system resilience and communication. Employees can also continue care in our center using benefits-friendly options. For individuals, we offer services focused on pain relief, stress recovery, and support for serious or chronic health conditions. We are a partner in helping your people feel better so they can live and work with greater capacity. If you’d like us to support your team or business, reach out to start a conversation about what workplace care could look like for you.
Two years ago today, News 12 CT walked through my doors, and I'm still grateful.
Thank you to News 12 for visiting Sabita Holistic Center and giving me the space to share my journey and how SHC shows up for this community!
I've been at the pink house on Post Rd for over 20 years, welcoming clients from age 9 to 95. My mission goes beyond care. It's about awareness, too. September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, and October brings Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Understanding early detection, hormonal imbalances, and how these cancers can be connected matters.
I don't just practice this work, I live it. As a uterine and ovarian cancer survivor, and someone currently walking through stage 3 endometrial cancer, I know what it feels like to sit in that waiting room, to carry the fear, the fatigue, and the questions no one prepares you for. That lived experience shows up in every session I give. I know where the body holds tension after treatment. I know what a gentle, safe touch can do for someone who feels disconnected from their own body. When you come to me, you're not explaining yourself to a stranger. You're with someone who understands.
Connection is everything to me. If there's a doctor who walked with you through your care, or a friend who could use a little comfort right now, tag them below & you will receive a gratitude gift from us! And if you've been to SHC, tell me what stayed with you. I read every word.
Open Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.
I accept HSA/FSA. Ask me about insurance reimbursement.

Why Smart Teams Keep Making the Same Mistake:
September has that back to school feeling. New notebooks, new schedules, a fresh start.
I am lucky. In 23 years at SHC, almost everyone I work with is a lifetime learner. Nobody hands them a syllabus. They learn in meetings, in feedback they did not ask for, in the middle of a launch that is going sideways.
Over those years I have grown my own capacity too, as an educator and speaker. One of my favorite projects has been teaching longevity at senior centers for the last 2 years. They ask the best questions, and they still show up curious.
That room looks nothing like a corporate offsite, but the work is the same. People do not really learn until they feel seen and heard. That is the room I build, for individuals and for teams under pressure.
So I got curious. What happens in the brain when we learn something new, and why do the same old problems keep circling back?
Learning is not one process. It is two systems arguing. Research from MIT found that the basal ganglia, the older and faster part of the brain, picks up a new rule quickly, while the prefrontal cortex, the planner, catches up more slowly and sees the bigger picture. That is why you can know the new process on day 2 and still not understand it until week 6. https://news.mit.edu/2005/basalganglia
Cognitive flexibility is the ability to drop a rule that stopped working and pick up a new one. Chronic stress blocks it. Under pressure, the brain repeats what it knows anyway. Researchers call it perseverative error. Doing the old thing, harder.https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11407068/
Sound familiar in an organization?
When a team keeps making the same mistake, we usually look at the person. Deming argued that roughly 94 percent of problems belong to the system, not the individual. The person is often just the most visible part of a process that was set up to fail. And you cannot ask people to be flexible inside a system that punishes them for it. https://deming.org/managers-must-understand-that-blaming-employees-doesnt-help/
So the question this September is not who needs training. It is what in our system is teaching people to repeat this.
A few things I have watched work. Slow the pace before you add information. A stressed nervous system cannot learn, it can only repeat.
Here is the integrative part: pay attention to how they actually take in what you give them. Start from what your people already know. Say it and show it. Repeat it in more than one format. And make it safe for someone to say I do not understand my own plan.
That is the work I do in the room. I take a benefit you already pay for and make it land, so people feel seen enough to actually use it.
Low participation is rarely a motivation problem. It is a design problem, and design is something you can fix.

Every Friday we pull one product off our shelf and tell you why it earned its spot. This week: the Conscious Coconut Bamboo Dry Brush.
Here's the thing about your lymphatic system. It doesn't have its own pump the way your heart does. It relies on movement. So when your skin looks tired or your legs feel heavy by Wednesday, gentle external stimulation is one of the simplest ways to give it a nudge. 💧
That's the whole idea behind dry brushing. Three minutes, head to toe, before you shower. The firm bamboo bristles sweep across the skin and leave behind that warm, tingling, fully awake feeling you don't expect from something so low effort. Clients tell us their skin feels noticeably softer within the first week or two. ⚡️
Sustainable bamboo handle, natural bristles, no plastic, no packaging you'll feel guilty about. A ritual that treats your skin and the planet with the same respect. 🎍
Grab one on your way out after your next appointment, or stop in and we'll walk you through how to use it. Call for pricing, and ask us what else we're quietly obsessed with right now. 💬

Energy and body work gets described as "mysterious" a lot. It isn't, really. It's a fully clothed, light-touch session in a quiet room with someone who has spent 30 years learning how to read a body.

Happy September!!!!
We are entering a month filled with important awareness moments, and behind every one is a person, a family, and a story. 💗💚
At SHC, we believe awareness is more than recognizing a name on a calendar. It’s about listening, learning, showing compassion, and reminding people that they don’t have to navigate their health journey alone.
This month, we’re holding space for the individuals and communities represented by these causes. Whether you’re personally navigating a challenge, supporting someone you love, or simply learning more, your story matters. 💗
We’re here to support you with personalized care, education, and a little reminder to slow down and take care of yourself, too. 🌿
Awareness starts with noticing. Care starts with listening...
Drop a 💗 below to show your support for everyone navigating a health journey, supporting a loved one, or raising awareness this September.

Sabita Shortcuts 🧠✨
Ever feel like your body is resting, but your brain is still at work? 😵💫
Sometimes the hardest part of slowing down isn’t finding the time...it’s getting your mind to stop carrying everything at once.
This is your reminder that you don’t have to figure everything out today. Start by creating a little space, choosing what truly needs your attention, and letting the rest wait.
That’s the kind of wellness we believe in at SHC: practical, realistic, and rooted in how your mind and body actually work. 🌿
So… what’s taking up space in your mental tabs today? 👀
"When was the last time you had s*x? When was the last time you thought about having s*x because you actually wanted to?"
Our client Kitty Berry asked these questions in the studio recently, highlighting a struggle so many people face: losing your spark, motivation, and intimate connection.
Kitty suggested reading a romance novel for fresh inspiration. 📚 She is onto something real: engaging stories stimulate dopamine, the brain chemical driving desire.
While a good book is a great spark, long dry spells often need a few more tools. Low desire is rarely a personal flaw. Usually, it is your body reacting to a stressed nervous system.
The Science Behind the Shutdown:
- High stress floods your body with cortisol, signaling survival mode. When overwhelmed, libido is the first thing to shut off.
- Most adults experience responsive desire rather than spontaneous desire. Creating the right environment comes before feeling in the mood.
4 Ways to Reconnect with Your Desire:
1. Take the pressure off. Put s*x on hold for two weeks and focus purely on touch without expectations, like a long hug or back rub.
2. Prime your brain with novelty. Try new date spots or activities together to trigger dopamine.
3. Support your sleep and hormones. Fatigue suppresses drive. Rest and morning sunlight help balance your stress hormones.
4. Unload mental weight. Sharing daily responsibilities creates space to shift from manager mode into a romantic state.
Rebuilding intimacy takes time and self-compassion. 🤍 What is one way you can give yourself space to unwind this week? Tell us below! 👇
