In December 2022, we acquired Sundance Tanning. I had been a customer for years and didn’t want to see it close. It was never primarily about profit.

We grew the business and improved the experience, but rising electric costs and rent eventually outpaced revenue. After a long struggle, we’ve made the difficult decision to close the Southwick location of White Sands Sunspa. Our hope is to return early next year under a different model and in a new location.

I want to thank a few people who made this chapter possible:

Katie — my wife — decorated and painted the salon in those first days and has always supported these entrepreneurial efforts.

Emma Barnard walked in the day after I signed the papers, taught me the business, and helped shape what it became. She still works with us from time to time and is now in a new career. I know she’ll do well.

Ellen Collins rebuilt the team, trained people well, and brought in new systems after Emma stepped away. She now works in one of our other companies and continues to grow.

Sarah kept the salon running this past year under real pressure while finishing school. She’s heading into teaching, and we need more people like her. I’m proud of you.

Our last day is Friday, August 28th.
Due to short staffing, August hours are reduced (see graphic).

Please come in, enjoy the space one more time, and use any remaining sessions. I will cover rent, utilities, and wages. Every remaining dollar from sales will be divided equally among Emma, Ellen, and Sarah.
