In case ya'll didn't know, I was pregnant. I had to go on maternity leave abruptly at 31 weeks because my water broke early and my little Noah 👉 was born at 33 weeks. My life right now is nothing but NICU visits and making sure Noah gets the best care possible. He is healthy and doing well but will likely be in the hospital for the next month as his brain and body continue to develop. I will be on maternity leave for some time as I adjust to motherhood and caring for a premature infant. I hope to be able to go back to work starting off one day a week on Friday and eventually add another day in. I don't know exactly what day this will be as I'm just taking life one day at a time right now. Thank you everyone who has supported me through Instagram or as a client. I hope I will see you in my chair someday!

P.s. can you believe we took the maternity photo in the timpanogos hospital parking lot? 😵

One of my latest blonde transformations. 👱‍♀️ Through some carefully placed foils, you can get some bright pops of blonde that make you feel bright and beautiful but still maintain your natural color for dimension.

👍The great thing about a color like this is that you can go up to 6 months between appointments. Especially if you are okay with seeing warm tones in your hair.

If you are looking to book, I would love to take care of you but I'm currently in the hospital on bedrest until my baby comes and wont be back for a few months while I care for my newborn. When I do get back, I will be back for a limited number of days a week, however there are some great girls at salon de la paz that can take care of you. Dm them or call the salon at +1 385-221-6436

It sucks, but... haircolor is not a one size fits all. ❌

⭐This is part of the reason that your stylist discourages the use of box color. Because not all hair starts out the same color, texture, and porosity, the same hair color will appear different on everyone.

⭐When you come to a professional, you get a custom color for your unique hair and hair history.

⭐Another important thing to note is that the more you flip flop between dark and light, the harder it will be for your hair to hold onto that dark color pigment. So if you're going dark again after being super light, just remember that your hair will fade quicker because your hair cuticle is more raised from previous blonding, meaning the pigment washes away quicker.

⭐This is where quality professional products are a must in order to protect your investment. Also regular trims are a must too anytime you go blonde, even if you color your hair dark again, your hair will not be in the same condition it was when it was virgin.

Throw me a 🦄 emoji if you learned something new.

Are you tired of the constant maintenance of highlights? Want to be in the salon every 4-6 months rather than 3-4 months? A quick root smudge/stretch and tone could be the service for you. Stretching out the root gives your hair the opportunity to grow out seamlessly and allow you to go longer between appointment. Looking to go low maintenance today? Dm me to book!

Take a look at the before on this beauty. 👉 Hadn't had any blonde added into her hair for years, so we brightened her hair up with some highlights and added a fun side swept bang. How often should you come in to refresh your highlights? Great question! It can largely depend on how much contrast there are between your highlights and natural color and how much blonde you are adding in and if you get a root smudge, but a good rule of thumb is to come in every 3-4 months with a gloss in between for those of you who like to be cool toned. Have any other questions, let me know. 👇

🤪Little known fact alert!

Just had a very stressful week. Both my father in law and husband were in the hospital. Just know that as stylists we make every effort to make you comfortable.

Sometimes this means being chatty and listening as you pour out your heart to us, and sometimes that can look like a silent appointment where we consult and then when the rest of the appointment starts, we don't talk except when needed to clarify your hair needs or after appointment hair care.

If you need a silent appointment, just let us know and we will be happy to accommodate. TBH for some of us stylists, we get burnt out making small talk all day too 😉, so don't feel the need to fill the silence. This time is yours. Spend it the way you need.

If you need a nap, that's okay too. I don't find it offensive at all. In fact I think its a compliment that you feel comfortable enough around me to 💤 . The only time it may not be feasible is when I'm cutting your hair and need it still so we don't end up with a wonky cut. 😅

Who says bangs have to be short? This cut is the perfect way to still maintain length but still make a change without being too drastic. We just trimmed a little off and added concave layers and a long curtain bang. Concave layers are awesome for long hair. If you want some shorter pieces to help take some weight out from the hair and give your hair some life, concave layers are for you. I promise you will feel like you just stepped off the set of a hair commercial.😉

I often get asked about hair loss and what you can do to stop it. Before you can effectively stop it, you must learn the cause. The cause will always start with something off internally. This is why I will recommend that you first see a doctor and get a blood test. The most common cause of hair loss is s*x hormonal imbalance. This is caused by:

🚩Postpartum/ childbirth
🚩PCOS
🚩Menopause
🚩Birth control
🚩Hormone replacement therapy
🚩Congenital adrenal hyperplasia

When estrogen and progesterone are lower, there is a higher level of testosterone present. Testosterone gives off a derivative called DHT. When DHT is present, it seals off the capillaries in the hair follicle, causing the hair to go from its growing phase to resting phase sooner than normal. To solve this problem you can either block DHT from the hair follicle through:

💫Prescription medications
💫Minoxidil (aka rogaine)

These options are lifelong commitments. Your other option is to fix the hormonal imbalance. Once you determine the cause of the imbalance, you can begin to work on short and long term solutions.

Some food based DHT blockers that can help in the meantime are:

💥Pumpkin seed oil
💥Saw palmetto
💥Stinging nettle (particularly good for postpartum since it has additional benefits)
💥Rosemary oil
💥Zinc
💥Lycopene
💥Lysine

Other possible causes for hair loss include vitamin deficiencies, auto immune disorders, gut health disorders, thyroid issues, impaired liver function and many more. Please see your doctor if you experience hair loss. Your body is telling you something isn't right. I had a hormonal imbalance that wasn't causing hair loss, but it was causing infertility. So grateful to my doctor for helping my address my health in a holistic way!

Why do I take pictures 📸 aside from the obvious fact that I take them to post them so you can see the quality of my work for yourself?

I also take them for my own personal reasons as well which includes reflecting back on my work and seeing how I can improve. It also gives me confidence to keel improving when I see how far my work has come. An artist's work is never done, and as an artist I'm always looking to improve.

This bob in particular reminds me of how i am skilled and knowledgeable enough now when I wasn't a few years ago to know how to add volume to fine hair with scissors✂️ alone. This haircut truly is a custom cut for the client. Anytime you book a cut with me, it will always be a custom cut.

⭐I sometimes will make exceptions with conditioner at the roots if the scalp is dry and flaky, however for my oily scalp girls and guys, avoid conditioner at the scalp.

⭐ All conditioners require some time to work and do their magic. I also recommend squeezing out the water left in the hair from shampooing before applying conditioner.

⭐A filter on a shower head in Utah where the water supply is very hard is a must. How do you know if you have hard water? Look at your shower door or plastic curtain lining. Are there water spots. Then you have hard water. If you do have hard water, this could be the reason your hair is feeling rough and dry. My recommendation is to come into the salon for a Malibu clarifying treatment followed by a deep condition from redken that closes down the hair cuticle.

⭐Never shampoo your ends! The longer your hair is, the drier it will be at the ends. The scalp produces oil that lubricates and conditions our hair, but as it gets longer, it takes longer for that oil to travel down to the ends. To redistribute oils from scalp to ends, I recommend the use of a boar bristle brush between shampoos.

⭐ Lastly, I recommend using purple shampoo when you start to see yellow creeping back into your hair. Many purple shampoos can be drying, so follow with a nice deep conditioner. If your color starts to look dull and lack shine, come in to the salon for a clarifying treatment and toner. The difference between toner and purple shampoo is that stylists have control over how much ash tone gets deposited onto the hair. With a toner, your stylist can add a hint of warmth to the formula that keeps the blonde bright and shiny.

I hope you guys enjoy seeing pictures of my work as much as I do creating it. ❤I love that every head of hair presents a new challenge.

💜Overcoming these challenges gives us hairdressers a high that is so amazing.

💙For my client today we decided on a toned down coppery red similar to the photo of Drew. We achieved this by lifting her dark virgin hair to a level 6 using 40 vol.

💛We truly hope you love your hair when we are done. But if for some reason you don't, its totally okay to say "hey the blonde looks a little warmer than I wanted." I would much rather hear you speak up when you're unhappy than leave and feel totally bummed that it didn't turn out the way your wanted when you get home. Sometimes it's a simple fix, a 30 minute retone, and sometimes it may be that you didn't get as light as you wanted in which case its all about the long game and being patient with your hair and us and coming back for another lightening session. No matter what though, feel free to tell us and we will address it in the best way we can. Have you ever felt scared to talk to your stylist? 👇
