I’ve been working patiently to be at this point in the creation of Jaden’s quilt. It measures 90” squared although the photo does not really show it. My next step is to write the siblings memories in the light lavender blocks. I also will be adding another photo on the back along with a song her brother wrote for her. I’m so happy and pleased with the quilt top so far. IT’S BEAUTIFUL….just like Jaden. Stay tuned for the next step.

For those of you who asked…. I use a very small feather stitch to appliqué the letters to the border fabric. I do this first before I attach the border to the quilt top.

Top name border was made today. I’m taking a break for a little bit and then I’ll finish the bottom last name border. I used Jaden’s formal dress to cut out first and last name letters. I love the black as it makes those letters pop!

Sorry I have not posted for a while but I had to perform surgery on this quilt top quite a few times to get it to measure even when folded horizontally and vertically. Wow! It was quite the learning experience. Even though I’ve made multiple Tshirt quilts, I am still made aware that when manhandled too much…stabilized materials can still stretch. Also, beautiful silky formal fabric can slip and slide. However, we are back on track. I attached the last row and bordered the total quilt top with my sashing fabric. Next step is to measure out the black fabric which will serve as a wide border to display Jaden’s name. I’m running on minimal sleep but my adrenaline keeps me going. Until the next photo…..HAVE AN AWESOME FRIDAY!

Strolling through some past projects. This postage stamp quilt was pretty intense but worth each and every stitch. It is truly a masterpiece!
It’s finally complete after 4.5 months of hand quilting 8,800 postage stamp sized quilt blocks. Roughly nine to ten stitches per block which comes to close to 80,000 stitches by hand within this treasure. That’s not including the stitches by hand it took whoever pieced the top together. This quilt top was found in an old abandoned house in one of the closets and sent to me to finish. What a project it was! It washed up beautifully…even all of the fabrics from the Great Depression. I will be posting more photos of this beauty when the sun comes out in the next few days. Until then… I’m going to relax, heal my fingers, and enjoy this beauty until it goes back to it’s owners.

This beautiful white and lavender fabric came today in such timely fashion. It is so beautiful! These lavender blocks will be inserted at least 7 times throughout the quilt. I plan on writing Jaden’s siblings memories on them with a permanent fabric pen. That’s the plan anyway!

Last night I had to place blocks the best possible way. My next step is to add the beautiful purple sashing fabric. The first row is now finished and will be used as a measurement block for those that follow. It feels so good to be at this step and to see it all coming together Ittle by little. Goodnight from the sweatshop.

My grey marble wide flannel fabric arrived today! It will be used for the back of Jaden’s memorial quilt. Very rich looking with the various colors of grey. I LOVE IT!
