J is a 15-year-old client I have been seeing consistently since february. like many teenage girls, she struggles with acne and knowing what products/routines are best for her skin.
•
from our first appointment, my focus with J has mostly been on supporting her consistency with her routine. during our follow-up services every 4 weeks, I always check in with the same questions: “are you washing your face every day, twice a day? are you wearing your hair up and off of your face when you’re at home? are you wearing sunscreen?” if she is struggling to stick to the basics, we chat about the importance of these skincare foundations and how they will not only improve her skin today, but help her maintain healthy skin for life.

this week, we jumped into some new challenges she’s experiencing. she has her first job this summer working outside in the heat, which leads to extra sweat on her face and exhaustion that sometimes keeps her from remembering to wash that sweat off as soon as she gets home. I gave her some product + DIY recommendations of how she can give her face a quick cleanse throughout her work day to keep the sweat from sinking into her pores. if she follows this, then she can use it at the end of her work day as well and rest as soon as she gets home without feeling guilty for not washing it immediately.

I love my time with J - in addition to skincare, we chat about all of her life updates and she gets a moment to relax and unwind. i’m a forever teacher at heart, so educating her about her skin while also connecting with her about school, work, friends, and family fills my cup. 🤍
