This is happening in my rear view mirror

This guy and I had a little momma and son date tonight. While at our ice cream nite cap a nice young man that actually saw Elvis on his first big tour of the US started chatting with us while his sweetie was getting their cones. I must mention that he is also a fellow Rogers alumni (class of ‘59). After telling us a story about a cute little mouse, he asked if they could sit with us. Of course our answer was yes. After our introductions and many stories of school, music, concerts, tv shows and birds my heart started to hurt a little. I miss the connection of people.....family, friends, co workers, classmates of my kids, strangers, people. I miss seeing smiles and funny facial expressions of passers by. Owen couldn’t stop talking about “those nice people at ice cream” on the way home and I can’t stop thinking about them now. They didn’t hesitate at all to ask to sit with us. They didn’t feel like they needed to wear a mask or cover themselves in hand sanitizer. They were even leaning in closer to be able to hear what Owen was saying. It was just 2 people that wanted to connect with other people and they chose us. Im so grateful they did. What an amazing end to already great night with my handsome Odie ♥️
