I'm hittin' the asphalt and training to walk/jog/run a half marathon by June 2023!!

(Yep 13.1 miles!)
I'm starting from the very beginner level and this is my journey!

This week has felt really good! πŸŽ‰πŸ€˜

⭐ Got my 4 workouts in

Stepped out of my comfort zone and went on a higher elevation hike with a group of ladies (and I only knew one of them) and it was in snow. I had major anxiety about it and it showed in the first .75 mile... I couldn't breathe right. My mind kept thinking that the ladies, which were of course all ahead of me, were complaining about me holding up the group when in fact. They were all very kind. Encouraging and didn't make a thing of it!!!
Not only was this physically challenging for me but mentally. And I'm SO glad I did it!! Plus, it was a beautiful day! πŸ€— AND this was after having a night out! So even though I was up til 2 am after a concert, driving around and going to a Halloween party, I felt great! I stuck to drinking lemon water and I still had a blast!!
I'm over here working on goals and feel I need to cheers myself for this week! 🫢
Now... To keep it going!!!

It's been quite the two weeks! A handful of ups and downs with my progress and with family and life in general.
I'm figuring out this really is a mental game. I'm not giving up! It's a process... Each step I do is one step closer to my goal!! πŸ‘Ÿ
In the last two weeks these are a few things I HAVE done.
⭐ Day with Aunt Terry - 3 miles
⭐ 5k with friends
⭐ 2 weeks no alcohol. (Shooting for 30 days at a time) it's just stupid calories. Right?!
⭐ Some lunch time walks
⭐ Rainy afternoon walk
⭐ Got my ass back in the gym on the bike
⭐ I'm writing my activity on my calendar

It's hard to keep focused when the people you spend most of your time with do not have similar goals, so I'm trying to remind myself I have to be selfish with my time. I need to keep moving and do things that will benefit me and get me closer to those goals. 🀘

😳 It's been nearly 4 weeks and I've not made progress. I've not done much of anything except random mile walks on lunch.
No excuses but I was sick for one week. Barely got myself to work then slept.
I've also been doctoring an ingrown toe nail and getting fitted for orthotics at the podiatrist! (I have high hopes).
We also went to Vegas for a weekend.
I know I don't need to be so hard on myself BUT, some days you just are not proud of yourself and feel like a failure... BUT I'm not! I know that much.
It is a process.πŸ˜‰
Someone told me it won't be easy and I'll be my own worst enemy (story of my life!)
I am not giving up. I'm getting back on the horse and working my way to feeling good moving and getting them miles in! πŸ€—
I started today with a 1.16 mile walk.
It's a start! 🀘 I need to be selfish with my time to work on my goals, for me.
⭐I even signed up to do a 5k and 10k with friends this month! πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

This wasn't my best week, but let's celebrate what I DID do!
⭐ 2/4 workouts

4 workouts weekly
βœ…β­ Bike ride day - 2 mi walk/6 mi bike
βœ…β­ Core day - plank, wall sit... That stuff
~Also~
βœ…β­ Walk at least 1 mile during lunch breaks at work πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ
(I did hit a goal of reaching Manito this week on lunch!)
I did not go for long walks this week... 😬
My food and alcohol consumption could have been better!

I keep reminding myself...This is a journey, an adventure and a process.
Not perfection.
I will strive to do better this week ... But Geeesh. Damn this Smokey air!

Honesty can be tough sometimes... This week is one of those times.

⭐ 4/4 workouts completed this week!

My feet and legs are sore. I think that's a good sign. Works being done! πŸ˜†

I've been strongly encouraged to start a page to help track my journey and to share my story!
I'm getting married in June 2023 and will be turning 45! ... I've got goals for this year to be epic!! πŸ’ͺ
I'm so lucky and grateful to have Aunt Terry steer me in the direction of my goals and challenge me more than I could ever push myself!
Here's where I'm at 3 weeks in:
4 workouts weekly
⭐ Bike ride day - 2 mi walk/6 mi bike
⭐ 4+ mi walk day
⭐ Core day - plank, wall sit... That stuff
⭐ Aunt Terry day - whatever she chooses
~Also~
⭐ Walk at least 1 mile during lunch breaks at work πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ

~I'm walking 14.5 miles weekly at this point
⭐ Eating cleaner - fruit, veggies & protein (90% of the time)
⭐ Cutting back on alcohol (only drinking at some social events and no beer)

This is a journey and a process. Perfection is not what I'm striving for. I'm eager to change some habits and make lifestyle changes!

I'll share weekly if I got all my workouts in and share some random pictures.
