Mother Nature has been a little too generous with the rain lately! Due to the recent heavy rainfall, our flower field location is currently flooded and unusable for this upcoming weekend.

Safety and high-quality images are always my top priorities, so we will need to pivot for everyone scheduled for a flower field session this weekend. I will be reaching out to each of you individually today to discuss our options:

•Reschedule: We can move your session to a future date once the field dries up.
•Change Location: We can switch to a different outdoor location unaffected by the rain.
•Move Indoors: We can transition your shoot into a beautiful indoor studio session.

When you look at a final photo gallery, you’re seeing a captured moment. But what you don't see is the invisible mountain of work, time, and money it took to create the exact look and mood of those images.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about why the editing process and my editing style means so much to me, and I wanted to pull back the curtain a bit on why I don't deliver RAW files.

1. Presets aren’t filters. They are built from scratch. People often think editing is as simple as slapping a quick filter on a phone photo. In reality, creating a signature style means building presets completely from scratch in professional software. It means manually tweaking hundreds of tiny, tedious settings RGB curves, individual color hues, luminance, split toning, and grain until it looks perfect.

2. The hidden cost of perfection.
It takes years of trial and error to build an editing style that works in bright sunlight, deep shade, indoor lighting, and every skin tone. To get there, a photographer invests thousands of dollars. We pay for professional software subscriptions, heavy duty computers that can handle massive files, high end calibrated monitors to ensure colors print accurately, and endless hours of education and testing. It is a massive financial and mental investment.

3. Why this art is so deeply personal.
The way a photo is edited is the soul of the image. It’s how I inject feeling into a frozen moment. As you can see in the swipe, a RAW photo is flat and silent; the edit is where the mood, the warmth, the nostalgia, and the romance get turned all the way up.

When I edit, I am pouring a piece of myself into your memories. It’s my art, my signature, and my promise to you that your photos will look like a timeless piece of art, not a snapshot.
I love pulling back the curtain because I believe the intention behind the art matters just as much as the final image.
