Some evenings don’t end. They just change shape. It started with the candles tall and the flowers fresh and everyone still wearing the edges of their day, still a little distracted, still arriving. And then… something shifted. The edges softened. The conversation slowed into something deeper and more honest. The flowers relaxed into themselves. The candles stopped being decoration and started being the only light that mattered.

That’s what a table in a garden does if you let it. It takes whatever you brought with you and slowly, without asking permission, turns it into something else entirely.

The evening is over. But something from that table is still moving through everyone who sat at it, still softening, still becoming. That’s the thing about evenings like this.
