It is the most common sentence we hear in the exam room, usually about something that has been going on for eight months.

Nobody is being dishonest. Pain that shows up slowly recalibrates what normal feels like. You genuinely stop noticing it until the day you cannot lift something, or you cannot sleep on that side anymore, or it starts traveling down your arm.

The earlier we see it, the smaller the problem usually is and the shorter the road back.

If something has been nagging at you since spring, this is your week. Most new patients are seen within 24 hours. Book online or call 908-325-3000.

What is proprioception? đŸ€”

Think of it as your body’s internal GPS. It tells your brain exactly what your joints and muscles are doing at any moment.

For people dealing with neck and jaw pain, the signal often weakens. It’s like driving with bad cell reception. Your brain isn’t receiving clear positioning data, which can lead to pain, tightness, and compensation patterns.

The good news is that chiropractic adjustments can help restore proprioception in the muscles and joints. This helps restore normal function and reduce pain. 💡

Surgery gets scheduled. Then you wait.

Wait for a spot on the surgeon's calendar. Wait on insurance authorization. Wait on pre-op clearance and bloodwork. Weeks go by, sometimes months.

Most people spend that window doing as little as possible. It feels like the safe choice. It usually is not.

Muscle around an injured joint starts disappearing within weeks of disuse. Range of motion tightens. Endurance drops. Your body compensates and creates new problems in places that were fine before. Then you go into surgery already deconditioned, and the climb on the other side gets steeper.

Prehab uses that waiting period instead of wasting it. The ACL research is the classic example: better quad strength and range of motion going in usually means faster progress coming out.

Surgery fixes structure. Rehab teaches your body to function again. Prehab makes that second part a whole lot easier.

Have a surgery date on the calendar? Put the wait to work. Book online or call 908-325-3000.

Think you don’t have time to exercise? Think smaller! ⏱đŸ’Ș

“Exercise snacks” are short bursts of movement you can fit into your day, whether it’s a quick walk, a few squats, or some stretching between tasks.

Even small amounts of activity can add up toward the recommended 150 minutes of exercise per week and provide meaningful benefits for your heart, muscles, and overall health.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s finding simple ways to move more throughout your day. 🙌

Check out this infographic for some of the benefits of exercise snacks, and try adding a few quick movement breaks to your routine this week!

Your ankle pain is gone, but does it still feel wobbly? đŸŠ¶

A lot of times, people measure their injury by their pain level. Once the pain is gone, the injury is healed. However, that doesn’t mean that the function has been restored.

After an ankle sprain, it is common to feel that the ankle is unstable when returning to normal activities. This is why strengthening and balance exercises are so important, not only for returning to activities but also for preventing another ankle sprain. đŸ’Ș

So if you sprained your ankle, make an appointment for an evaluation to determine which exercises you should do.

You did everything right. Bought the brace. Wore it every night. Fixed your desk. And your hand still goes numb.

There is a specific reason this happens, and it has a name: double crush syndrome.

Think of the nerve running to your hand as a garden hose. Step on it in one spot and flow drops. Step on it in two spots and flow drops even more. Now fix only one of those spots. Better, maybe. Fixed, no.

That is double crush. The nerve is compressed in two places at once, often at the wrist and again up near the shoulder or neck. It is one of the most common reasons braces underperform and, in some cases, why symptoms stick around even after surgery.

This is why we test instead of assume. NCV testing shows us where the signal is actually slowing down. Not a theory. A location.

Brace not cutting it? Let's find out why. Book online or call 908-325-3000.

Could your workday back pain be about more than your desk setup? đŸ’»

We often blame our office chair or monitor height, but research shows that lifestyle factors like sleep and alcohol intake may also play a role in work-related low back pain.

The bigger picture, including sleep, stress, nutrition, and ergonomics, influences your back health. Getting enough rest can help your body better handle the physical demands of the day.

If back pain is making your workday harder, contact our office today to schedule an evaluation!

The mornings are cooler. The evenings get dark earlier. Everything about this season quietly invites you to move less.

That is exactly when stiffness sets in. Less activity, less circulation, more time sitting, and by November you are wondering why everything feels tighter than it did in July.

You do not need a whole new routine. You need to not stop. A twenty minute walk. Two gym sessions a week instead of zero. Stretching while the coffee brews.

Keep the momentum you built this summer. Your January self will thank you.
