ā€œI know what I need to do... so why can’t I do it?ā€

This is one of the most common questions I hear from high-achieving women.

The answer usually isn’t a lack of motivation, discipline, or intelligence.

More often, it’s a nervous system that’s still operating from old patterns of protection.

When perfectionism, people-pleasing, overworking, or hyper-independence have helped you succeed, they can be difficult to let go of even when they’re costing you peace, confidence, and connection.

The good news? These patterns can change.

When we work with the nervous system not against it lasting transformation becomes possible.

No matter who you’re a mama to, the caregiving never really ends. ā¤ļø

Whether you’re raising children, caring for pets, supporting loved ones, or holding space for others, you deserve care, too.

As mamas, we’re often quick to tend to everyone else’s needs while putting our own emotional and mental wellness on the back burner. But your well-being matters. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish—it’s essential.

Today, my cat Leo made sure I didn’t forget that while ā€œhelpingā€ me work on my website by supervising from my lap and keyboard. šŸ¾šŸ’»

A gentle reminder: the ones who depend on you benefit most when you make space for your own healing, rest, and support.

Leo clearly takes his role as website quality-control manager very seriously. šŸ±šŸ’•

Grateful for the support behind this rebrand.

One thing I’ve realized through this process is how similar it is to therapy.

It’s not just about how things look on the surface
it’s about slowing down, getting honest, and reconnecting with what actually feels aligned.

helped bring clarity to something that had already been shifting in my work—and translated it into a brand that truly reflects it. And captured it in a way that feels natural, not forced.

This wasn’t something I did alone.
And just like in therapy… you’re not meant to.

If you’re in a season where something feels slightly off or not fully aligned, you don’t have to figure that out on your own.

You can look like you’re holding everything together…
and still feel anxious underneath it all.

That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.
It often means your nervous system hasn’t had the chance to fully settle.

You don’t have to stay in that place. If this resonates, you can learn more or schedule a consultation through the link in my bio or on my website at www.mybetterwellnesscounseling.com

1ļøāƒ£ Partner Selection Reflects Childhood Experiences: The partners we choose often mirror our upbringing. We may unconsciously select those who feel familiar, which can explain why some stay in unhealthy relationships. Exploring childhood experiences of emotional neglect or trauma can reveal why we choose certain partners.

2ļøāƒ£ You Don’t Have to Stay a Victim: Experiencing abuse is painful and not your fault, however healing is your responsibility. A victim mindset can hinder growth; recognizing your strength is crucial for moving forward.

3ļøāƒ£ Micromanaging Your Children Can Hold Them Back: Over-controlling your children’s lives can stunt their development. Understanding child development, especially during adolescence, is key to granting them age-appropriate responsibilities. Overprotective parenting often stems from parental anxiety, leading to young adults who struggle with decision-making.

4ļøāƒ£ Healing Requires Key Elements: Healing involves commitment, embracing discomfort, and fostering acceptance and curiosity. Understanding these concepts can lead to significant growth.

5ļøāƒ£ AI and Self-Help Resources Can Reinforce Anxiety: While AI and self-help resources seem helpful, they can reinforce anxiety and checking behaviors instead of building self-trust. Quick social media tips often lack context, and self-diagnosing can be harmful. The most effective healing comes from the professional relationship with a therapist, which provides necessary co-regulation and safety. Remember, there are no quick fixes for complex trauma.

Two reasons why setting intentions is so important?

1ļøāƒ£Because intentions serve as a simple compass or guide when we feel frozen or overwhelmed by emotions, or when we haven’t learned how to slow ourselves down during the day. When I work with clients, I often ask them at the end of each session what intention they want to set for themselves for the week. Many people struggle to understand what an intention is, so I use the example of ā€œChristmas spirit.ā€ When we mention it, most people create an image in their minds of what that means.

2ļøāƒ£Not only does intention setting act as a guide and compass, but it also helps the brain create new neural pathways. On tough days, having an intention can be a straightforward way to get ourselves back on track.

So, for this week, I’m going to ask you: What is your intention for yourself?

The intention I’m setting for myself this week is ā€œfunā€ because it’s my birthday week!
