After a long hiatus, I'm making my way back in..

The Indian go-to to stay cool in the sweltering heat! The best is always made from scratch -Natural the old fashioned way with a wooden “pestle” . That’s not the right word, I think- the pestle is rotated delicately between the hands, forwards@and backwards- separating the butter- see those frothy bubbles? That’s the butter.
Method for buttermilk: Indian curd is best, because it rarely has additives - but you can use a good quality plain yogurt like . Beat it with a whisk till smooth. From this point on, the variations start. Add anything from 3-8 times water, depending on how you like it. There are 3 ways of drinking this delicious cooling drink 1. Plain, with a pinch of pink salt, say4-5 times dilution. 2. Sweet thicker lassi : maybe 2-3 dilution, with a sweetener, I like rose petal powder in mine- or a handful of fresh rose petals or a 1/8 mango juice (pics later, promise) and 3.spicy- a little cumin, maybe fine shredded ginger, fine cut coriander- this works with 5-8 times dilution and a yummy way to get Gods best for a cool tummy and a refreshed head. Get the kids drinking as Summer starts and you’ll never regret it. Drink it before you go out or after you come back home to feel refreshed naturally. It’s ok to cheat- use the in-store buttermilk, dilute 3-4 times, and whip it.
