Remembering what the modern world forgot.

Today, for one fleeting moment in the turning of the year, light and darkness stand in balance. Neither conquers the other. Both belong.
For our ancestors, the autumn equinox marked a threshold. The fields were being gathered, food preserved, herbs dried, seeds saved, and preparations made for the darker half of the year. Across many European folk traditions, harvest time carried themes of gratitude, abundance, protection, feasting, and honoring the cycles of the land. 🌾
There is something beautiful in that old wisdom.
Nature does not cling to summer.
The trees do not mourn every falling leaf.
The earth simply turns inward.
And perhaps we are meant to do the same.
Today we give thanks for what grew, release what has finished its season, and remember that darkness is not the absence of life. Beneath fallen leaves and cooling soil, roots are still alive. Seeds are waiting. Rest is part of the cycle too.
So light a candle. Gather apples, herbs, acorns or fallen leaves. Share a meal. Thank the land. Take a moment to notice what you have harvested in your own life this year, and what you are ready to lay down.
🍎 For abundance.
🌿 For the medicine of the earth.
🕯️ For balance between light and dark.
🍂 For the beautiful turning of the wheel.
Happy Autumn Equinox, friends.
May your harvest be plentiful, your home warm, and your roots deep.

We honor the ancient rhythm of the moon, a time of abundance, gratitude, and gathering what we’ve grown.
May we release what has run its course and make room for what’s ready to rise. 🌿🌕🔥
Happy Sturgeon Moon, wild ones. 💚

There’s something pretty magical about making an everyday tool the old-fashioned way.
Our hand whisk brooms are made from homegrown broom corn, gathered and crafted by hand using traditional broom-making techniques that have been practiced in many cultures for generations, including Indigenous communities.
A hand whisk is a small, sturdy broom perfect for sweeping crumbs, hearths, workbenches, porches, or simply hanging somewhere beautiful. No factory. No plastic. Just plants, hands, and a little patience. 🌾
And yes… Rachael makes them right here at Fiddlehead Forest! Wonder how a broom is actually made? Stop in and you might catch her pulling one together.
Want one made especially for you? Custom whisk broom requests are welcome! Come in, pick your vibe, and let’s make you a broom. 🧹✨
