Air drying vs blow drying

Facts: Blow drying is better for your scalp and hair

Air drying (like over washing) over an extended period can cause scalp to compensate, over produce oil leaving hair more oily, and causing you to fight the imbalance with more and more shampoo for oily scalp and hair

This is why you can go longer when you are getting a blow dry from the salon

There is a big misconception that blow drying causes damage. This is only the case if you are overheating and over drying your hair, and brushing it too hard. Essentially, you’re taking out all the moisture and then pulling it to a point of hair shaft structural weakening or breakage

I recommend air drying for about 30 mins so the hair isn't soaking wet and then blow dry

This will save time, get out some excess water and help your blow dry will last!

This is considered a "Lived in Look"

A "Lived in Look" allows the hair to grow out in a natural way, rather than leaving visual roots that require more often touch ups

This process takes a longer initial appointment time but can last between 4-6 months giving a seamless grow out

One of the most common misused products are Purple Shampoo

Things to know about Purple Shampoo:

-It DOES NOT lighten the hair. There is no lighnter in purple shampoo. It only helps even out the tone

-Some purple shampoos can cause the hair to feel dry. I recommend using Amika bust your brass. This shampoo will help even out a brassy tone and hydrate your hair as well

-Do NOT use it at every wash. This can cause your hair to feel less bright and can cause it to look dull. I recommend using it as necessary when your hair starts to look more golden

-Dont leave it in longer than a minute. This can cause a purple hue
