When nature gives you spearmint right outside your door, you thank the seeds that rooted there, the sunshine, water and soil that fed it, the animals that pollinated the flowers that bloom from it, and the gentle refreshing aroma the leaves give when gently crushed. These make a beautiful addition to any bouquet as well as use for consumption.
Mint plants are prolific, some say invasive. I say they give an opportunity to connect with nature from root to use, and these leaves will be eventually dried enough to go into our tea blends, with some leaves used fresh in salads and beverages.
Spearmint is a delicate mint, with only about .5% to 1% menthol compared to peppermint’s nearly 40%, making young leaves perfect for chewing straight off the stem 🍃
