Knowing how to take care of your hair after having an expensive service done is crucial to making it last as long as possible!
1. Cold water🧊- cool water with high pressure is best for
vivid colors as hot water opens the cuticle of your hair and allows your color to fade prematurely.
2. Color safe shampoo + conditioner🧴- your 6 dollar
shampoo isn't going to cut it for your $200+ service. I can only guarantee the results of your service if the proper steps are taken to take care of your hair which includes choosing a shampoo recommended by your stylist
3. UV and heat protection ☀️🕶️- the sun is a large factor in color changes and using a proper uv protectant to shield your hair, this could be a hair + scalp sunscreen or a treatment spray like The Protector. It's also a great heat protection for 450f heat protection, but that does mean you need to use 400 degrees of heat on your hair. Low heat is better and shouldn't go above 325.
4. Swimming and Pools 🌊🏊 - I advise against swimming and pools with vivid hair as much as possible. The harsh chemicals from pools and salt water can strip your hair of the beautiful color and leave your hair feeling dry and lacking moisture 😵💫 if you must get in the water I recommend using a
leave-in conditioner to help create a barrier and prevent fading as much as possible.
5. wash your hair less often 🚿
- every time you wash your
hair the color strips away little by little, shampooing once or twice a week is always recommended, a good dry shampoo is your best friend and is better to apply on fresh clean dry hair to help absorb oil before it starts
BONUS TIP - moisture- after lightening your hair, your hair is fragile and needs moisture to maintain its appearance and integrity. Using a deep conditioner/mask once a week and pairing it with a leave-in conditioner and a lightweight oil helps your hair avoid looking dull and dry. Ask your stylist about Color depositing conditioners which is perfect for solid vivid colors to maintain the desired color for longer and prevent fading.
