Myth: Hairstylists no longer shampoo hair.
Fact: Cosmetologists still shampoo hair as part of their services. However, if you’re visiting a licensed braider, you may be asked to come with your hair already shampooed and blow-dried. This is due to state board regulations, which restrict licensed braiders from offering certain hair services.
Myth: Locs Don’t Grow
Fact: Locs do grow! Like any other hairstyle, locs require proper care and patience to thrive. Hair grows at its natural rate, and locs mature and elongate over time.
Myth: Locs are Dirty and Hard to Maintain
Fact: Locs are just as clean as any other hairstyle when properly maintained. Regular washing, moisturizing, and upkeep are essential for healthy locs.
