All day I have been wanting to avoid posting about the election, but the gloating, boastful behavior and even some of the hateful and disgusting posts, memes and comments just keep flowing and it makes me sad to see and feel compelled to write something.

Most of you know I am very open minded and respect your views and opinions however I do have some things to say.

Your team won. Congrats. It’s fine to be happy, excited and joyful. It’s fine to celebrate, but show some of your friends and family whom you may know be hurting today, some compassion and kindness.

Some of them may believe you and your team and some of the things your team stands for, represent hate and discrimination, and making life harder for them to live and love. In turn eliminating their rights and freedoms that they also deserve as Americans. Whether you agree with them on that or not shouldn’t be important.

Take a moment - prove them wrong - If you have someone you know who voted the other way, Maybe check in on them and see how they are doing. Just lend an ear and show you care. Whether you agree or disagree, this isn’t time for debate. Just ask them how they are doing with intention, true compassion and care.

Just be there for them - and mean it.
