Rebecca"s Weaving

I came from a family of 14 children,6 girls and 8 brothers, there are currently 12 of us living, My mom pretty much did it all and in the mean time when I was in elementary school, one of my grandma's passed away,and I still remember going to our grandma's house and seeing this big machine, and I remember that I thought that was the neatest thing, but, not aloud to touch, kneadless to say, my mom inherited this big loom. I remember helping her cut up old clothes us kids couldn't wear anymore ,sheets ,blankets, then going through the process of sewing then weaving..It sure seemed a lot of work, but in the end it was always worth it .Mom use to make rugs for gifts,,sold a few here and there, usually gave them away. But, she was a proud loving woman, We lost her back in 1993, but I know she s with me everyday. .You see, mom left the loom to me when she passed away, and I have been weaving since. I still carry on the family tradition and give out the rug to family and close friends, and hopefully some day do a fair again, I don't see my weaving as work, I call it my therapy, and it works wonders it is my hobby my passion. In 2004 my husband built me a studio on our land, it is beautiful, I have to mention my wonderful husband John, he has helped me so much with the loom, starting with setting the loom up, he has always took special care of it when we have moved around in the years, then I got my studio, and that is where I create, and call me crazy but I know our mom is watching me weave. I could tell many stories about that old loom ,alot of history and many memories,
