I'm very excited to announce that I've completed one of a few CE courses I have on the schedule for this year: Equine Visceral Therapy.

I spent last Sunday at the Northwest School of Animal Massage learning how to help horses on a deeper level.

In simple terms, Equine Visceral is a gentle manual therapy that evaluates the internal organs (viscera) and their surrounding connective tissues, fascia, and ligaments. Everything in the body is interconnected, and restrictions at a deeper level can transfer up. I am excited to add this tool to my toolbox to help horses with persistent compensatory patterns.

I've got a few changes coming down the pipeline over the next few months, and I wanted to give you all a heads up.

I'm currently working on updating and streamlining my backend scheduling and appointments system. Starting O̳c̳t̳o̳b̳e̳r̳ ̳1, all client communications and bookings will be switching over to EquiPro Connect. Don't worry, you'll still receive your text and email reminders just like before!

As part of this transition, all clients will need to fill out a new intake form (I'll share that as we get closer to the date).

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding while I get everything transitioned over — this is all in service of making scheduling smoother and easier for everyone.

Also... stay tuned, because a new website is incoming too!

Bodywork doesn't have to be just for after the show. Ideally, it's part of the whole week.

I am most often called out to do post- show recovery sessions. And while if you're going to pick and choose a time for bodywork, that is a great one, there's still lots of meat on the bone left to improve performance if time and budget allows.

I have spent the last two years taking my own horses out, and experimented with timing and modalities before, during and after competition. In this week's newsletter, I'm walking through my full pre- and post-show bodywork protocol:

Big news from Vandlen Equine: I'm building a horse show package, and I want to bring it to your ring in 2027.

This past year, I've been experimenting on my own horses, tweaking their routines week to week through a full show season and paying close attention to what actually works. That process taught me a lot, and I want to be able to pass that onto my clients: a horse show package designed specifically for the demands of a show weekend, with a few additional modalities layered in beyond my standard massage work.

I'm also opening up this winter to events near Tacoma to start, with plans to expand more broadly after that. If there are events you'd love to see me at, or a modality you wish you saw more of ringside, I want to hear about it. Either leave it in the comments, or reply to the newsletter!

September Schedule Update!

It's been a busy summer of appointments and personal horse fun. I'm looking forward to September, and my schedule has opened up a bit. If I haven't followed up with you yet but you're hoping for a spot, consider this your reminder to reach out!

One small weekly schedule change: I'm picking up a few more teaching spots at PNW Equestrian Center, so I'll no longer be available for massage appointments after 3pm on Wednesdays.
