Friends from church who dreamed of opening salons, thought, what if we open one together? What if there was a place where stylists could have autonomy with the support of a team? What if we partnered with our clients to provide for our community? What if we were one of the first in Tacoma to offer online booking, adult beverages, and prescriptive haircare? What if?

The vision and mission would not be put into words for years, but were there from the beginning. Caring for the beauty of our community together. Collectively serving each other and our neighbors through quality services, community events, and generosity. It has been our pleasure to host hygiene drives, offer haircuts, and give away goodies at Proctor Treats and the Arts Fest.

A mentor told us that a business partnership is like marriage without s*x. There’s some truth to this, but our relationship is always more important than the bottom line. The pandemic almost took us out, but the Lord continues to restore all that was lost.

Life eventually turns the page to the next chapter. It feels like our baby has grown up and is getting married. We are so proud and will still be in each other’s lives, but it’s no longer ours. And it never really was.

We are thrilled to pass the torch to dear friends who love the people Refinery Style Bar touches. We are excited for their fresh take and what they will continue to build on the foundation we laid. We are grateful to still be a part of this amazing team. Thank you for 10 incredible years of refining!
