Another successful class! I was able to capture two students (some didn’t want to be on socials), I didn’t have a photographer this time, but everyone had a blast and the feminine energy was unmatched.

I’ve made so many beautiful connections, but the part that puts me on cloud 9 every time is watching my students connect with each other ✨✨✨

It’s all about community here at bare necessities!

Hello Tacoma! Looking for something spontaneous to do??

My name is Lauren, and I'm the owner and founder of Bare Necessities, a small business proudly based here in Tacoma.

I'm also a Spaceworks Tacoma Alumni, a disabled single mother, and a social work student at the University of Washington Tacoma.

Starting my business has been one of the most meaningful journeys of my life, and I'm passionate about sharing my love of artisan soap making while building genuine connections within our community.

What began as a creative outlet has grown into something much bigger.

After becoming a Spaceworks Alumni,
I was published in the Underground Sound,
And aired on a local radio station.

Today, I handcraft small-batch artisan soaps and proudly offer Tacoma's home for premium artisan cold process soap-making classes open to the public.

My beginner-friendly classes are designed to be more than just a workshop—they're an opportunity to slow down, learn a new skill, connect with others, and create something beautiful with your own hands. Each participant makes a 3-pound loaf of artisan soap (approximately 8 bars, a $130+ value) using high-quality ingredients, custom fragrances, colors, and botanicals.

For the month of August the experience is buy one get one 50%off and drinks are included!
(Really trying to focus on the 15th) right now because it is an almost full class and the classes aren’t the same without community!

As a disabled entrepreneur and single mom, I know how important it is to find moments of creativity, self-care, and community. My goal is to create a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable, inspired, and connected.

I have been working my bottom off to build a future for my daughter and I and I truly believe in this opportunity to provide such a wonderful service to the community.
