Makeovers with Elizabeth Taylor

Jemma came to my Takoma Park, Maryland studio for her very first MtF makeover in February. She was nervous walking in and had never done anything like this before, but she left with photos she loves and a smile she could not stop.

Her look came from my studio wardrobe: an olive green ruched blouse, straight-leg jeans, white canvas sneakers, and a natural-wave wig. We chatted about travel, movies, and life while I did her makeup, and she said she was just able to relax.

"She was kind and helped me articulate the 'Girl Next Door, I just woke up like this' vibe. She offered thoughtful tweaks based on what we discussed, which all contributed to the end result."

I was honored to be invited to speak on the Allies panel tonight in Lewes, Delaware celebrating TDOV, the Transgender Day of Visibility. Panel questions related to experiencing trans joy, centering oneself in a challenging external environment, and supporting your loved ones to include how to know when and how to be present for them. My wife, Giselle, cheered me on from the audience, who looked alert and engaged.
