May 5, 2015 — A day I’ll never forget 🪴 (sharing something raw and emotional today)

As I go through my phone to empty out hair photos, I found these. These photos were taken the very first time I captured my work for Instagram. It was my first attempt at creating soft brown hues on my client’s jet-black hair using foilayage, and the result? Beautiful. But the story behind these pictures holds even more weight.

Halfway through this service, I received the devastating news that my best friend had passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident (he slide with his bike due to road issues and a semi dragged him for 20ft). My heart shattered. I still remember my client asking, ‘Do you need someone else to take over?’ But I knew I needed to finish. Something in me whispered that working with my hands, creating beauty for someone else, would bring me peace in this storm.

Through tears and unimaginable pain, I found strength in this craft I love so much. Hair is more than just a job for me, it’s a lifeline, a connection to others that anchors me in joy, even on the hardest days.

These photos remind me that even when life feels like it’s breaking us, there’s still beauty to create, still purpose to fulfill. Thank you to every client who has trusted me through the years, your presence has been a place of healing for me, too.

If there’s one lesson I’d share from this, it’s that your work, whatever it may be, has the power to impact lives in ways you can’t imagine. It can also be a lifeline for you. Trust the process, even in hard seasons, and never stop growing.

To my fellow stylists: take photos of your work, even when you’re learning. Celebrate the growth. The images you capture today will tell a story of strength and beauty years from now

Hello! First, I want to take a moment to send love and prayers to everyone affected by the recent hurricanes. I know it’s been a time of uncertainty and challenge for so many, and my heart is with each of you. 🙏🏼 We will Rebuild. Renew. Redefine.
