It's that time of year again... On August 25th, we will be holding the 2nd Annual Gary "The Barber" Medeiros Golf Tournament at Swansea Country Club. Last year, we were able to raise and donate over $12,000 to local families in need and this year we are looking to top it!

Because of the overwhelming turnout for last year's event, we decided to move the tournament to Swansea, which is able to accommodate double the amount of teams. That course is also where my dad first took me to learn how to play and we have spent countless hours playing there over the years, so I'm particularly excited for this one.

I want to start by thanking everyone who has either signed up or in some way contributed to the 1st Annual Gary 'The Barber' Medeiros Foundation Golf Tournament on October 5th. The response has been overwhelming and I know my dad would love to see all of his friends and family gathered to shank balls into the woods in his honor.

Though we are sold out of slots for players, we are still seeking businesses and individuals who are interested in sponsoring a hole, providing items for the raffle or simply making a cash donation. I also want to express my gratitude to everyone who has continued to support the barbershop over the past year since my dad's passing. My dad loved his friends and customers second to only his family and the fact that so many of you have remained loyal to 3 Brothers is a testament to the love and energy he put into that shop and the city of Taunton in general.

I hope to see as many of you as possible at the tournament or at the shop while I am in the area the first week of October. Let's do the old man proud!

Dear Loyal Customers,

I want to start by thanking all of you for your continued support of 3 Brothers Barbershop in the wake of my dad’s passing. As many of you know, the shop was an incredibly important place for my dad. It was the place where he spent nearly every day doing his two favorite things in the world; entertaining everyone who walked through the door with his endless stories and wild antics and sending them off looking and feeling great. I want to reassure you that not only will the shop remain open, but that I will do all I can to continue my dad’s legacy and keep the spirit of the place alive.

In the wake of my dad’s passing last September, Jacob and I began working together so that we can do just that. Though we plan to continue growing and improving the business over time, our goal is to maintain the environment you’ve all grown to appreciate and to keep providing you with the quality of service you’ve grown accustomed to.

I’d also like to extend a special thanks to Bobby, Sandy and Reilly for their loyalty to my dad and the barbershop during this transitional period. I could not have taken this on without such a strong team behind me.

If you were a regular customer of my dad’s and have not already done so, I encourage you to call or stop by the shop so that one of our barbers can continue to accommodate your needs as my dad once did. Though he is no longer with us, we want our clientele to walk into a shop that they recognize and continue to feel right at home.

For those who wish to attend Gary’s funeral on Thursday please come to Crapo-Hathaway funeral home in Taunton at 9:30 am. We will assemble there for final viewing. From there we will proceed to Notre Dame Cemetery, approximately an 10:30. That service will followed by his eulogy at Fall River County Club.

He was born to his mother Elaine (Barreira) Medeiros and the late Ernest Medeiros in Fall River, where he spent his youth and attended B.M.C. Durfee High School.
Gary was a people person in every sense of the word. Born to a large family, he learned the value of love and loyalty to others through his deep connections with his six brothers and sisters, whom he kept close throughout his life. He cherished his family and friends above all and became his truest self in their company. Those who knew him understood his innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life and leave them with a story to tell. He saw every introduction as an opportunity to make a new friend and further enrich his life.
Known to many as simply “The Barber”, Gary opened his first barbershop in Taunton nearly 40 years ago. Over the past four decades, he became a fixture in the community and his barbershop grew into a local institution, where generations of men could gather to share a laugh and leave looking their best. His enormous personality and captivating stories filled every room he stepped into. He viewed the barbers that he worked beside at 3 Brothers Barbershop as his sons and always strived to empower them to be the best barbers and fathers that they could be.
Perhaps the only thing Gary loved more than standing behind his barber chair was being a father. He dedicated his life to his only son, Zachary, and fatherhood was very much at the center of his identity. On any given day, you were likely to find the two of them enjoying a round of golf together, sitting across from each other at a poker table, or shooting endless rounds of pool inside the barbershop. He was quick to tell anyone who would listen that your relationship with your children is the most rewarding experience a man can have. He would drop anything to spend time with his son and encouraged everyone around him to do the same.
Gary is survived by his mother Elaine Medeiros, his son Zachary and daughter-in-law Malena Romero, his siblings Debbie Babin, David Medeiros and Kara Roselli, and also is predeceased by his brothers Jeffrey, Glen, and Craig, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, many close friends and his beloved dog, Jade.
Friends and family are invited to attend Gary’s calling hours on Wednesday, September 20, from 4 to 7pm at Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., Taunton. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11am at the Mausoleum in Notre Dame, Cemetery, 1540 Stafford Rd., Fall River. Kindly meet at the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home at 9:30am.
