Most soft tissue work is rushed.

A quick stretch here. A few minutes on the obvious tight spot. Maybe some general pressure where things feel tense.

But the real work is in the details.

In this session, I’m working through the hip area layer by layer — checking how the tissue responds, finding short and tense muscles, and giving each area enough time to actually release instead of just chasing the spot that feels most noticeable.

A lot of everyday discomfort can come from muscles that are overworking, shortened, or holding tension in places people don’t always expect. That’s why a full soft tissue routine matters.

It’s not just about doing “hip work.”

It’s about taking the time to assess what’s moving well, what’s resisting, and where the body may be asking for more support.

This is the kind of thorough, hands-on work that often gets skipped in faster therapeutic settings — not because it isn’t important, but because there usually isn’t enough time to do it fully.

Here, the detail is the difference.

The upper cervical region is small, sensitive, and very good at letting you know when it’s pi**ed off.

If your neck feels stiff and you keep wanting to “crack” or stretch it, this technique is for you.

Sometimes your neck needs a quick "software update".

This simple muscle energy technique uses:

✔️ Light positioning
✔️ Gentle contraction
✔️ Controlled breathing
✔️ Small eye/head movement
✔️ Repetition without forcing it

The key word is **gentle**.

This is not a “crank your neck until something pops” situation.

The goal is to help your nervous system and muscles find a little more room to move — without picking a fight with your neck like it owes you money.

Upper neck tension can be influenced by: (all stuff discussed in previous slides)

• Screen posture
• Jaw tension
• Eye strain
• Stress
• Breathing patterns

Swipe through for the step-by-step 👆

Be mindful: if you have a diagnosed neck condition, recent injury, neurological symptoms, dizziness, instability, or you’re unsure whether this is appropriate for you, discuss it with a qualified healthcare provider first.

If you’re in Temecula/Murrieta and neck tension keeps coming back, we can help you figure out what’s driving it and what to do about it.

Tension has a way of creating a ripple effect.

What starts in one area can sometimes influence how the rest of the body feels — from the neck and shoulders to the jaw, head, arms, and back.

Most of our clients show up with a primary problem area, like neck pain, but as we dive deeper into what they are experiencing, we often find much more.

All of these areas can be related, and trace back to a central problem area.

That’s why at Release Muscle Therapy, we don’t just focus on where discomfort shows up. We look for the pattern behind it.

Because lasting relief starts with understanding the source.

Most people don’t realize how much the jaw and neck can influence each other…

The muscles around the jaw, face, neck, and upper shoulders often work as part of the same tension pattern.

So when one area is working overtime, the other may start joining the party like an uninvited guest with boundary issues.

Common signs of a jaw/neck tension pattern can include:

• Neck tightness
• Upper trap tension
• Head or temple pressure
• Facial tension
• Jaw fatigue
• That “my neck never fully settles” feeling

A few simple resets may help calm the system down:

✔️ Lips together, teeth apart
✔️ Slow nasal breathing
✔️ Tongue gently resting on the roof of the mouth
✔️ Warm compress + light jaw massage

The key word is light.

Aggressively digging into the jaw usually isn’t the move. This area can be sensitive, reactive, and very good at throwing a tantrum when overworked.

Jaw and neck tension patterns can be influenced by things like:

• Daily jaw habits
• Stress and nervous system load
• Head and neck position
• Breathing patterns
• How the jaw and neck coordinate throughout the day

Change the input → the tension pattern can start to change.

For people in the Temecula/Murrieta area, our team can help look at what may be contributing to recurring jaw and neck tension patterns and what to do next.

Most people go straight to traps when their neck feels tight…

…but this area? 👇
Posterior scalenes.

When these muscles get overworked (breathing patterns, posture, stress), they can refer tension into the neck, shoulder, and even up toward the head.

That “tight” feeling that keeps coming back?
It’s often not where you think.

The goal isn’t to smash it.

It’s to calm it down, improve how it’s being used, and reduce the load it’s under all day.

✔️ Targeted, specific work
✔️ Better breathing mechanics
✔️ Smarter movement habits

That’s how you get change that actually sticks.

If this pattern sounds familiar, there’s usually a reason behind it—we map it out and address it directly.

A lot of everyday tension builds in the small muscles right under the back of your head. When those get tight, it can create that “I just want someone to press right here” feeling.

This graphic breaks down:
✔️ Why that spot matters
✔️ What’s actually going on under the surface
✔️ Simple do’s and don’ts to support relief

Try this:
Next time you feel that tension, use gentle pressure (not digging) and notice what changes.

"I've tried stretching it. I've tried resting it. It keeps coming back."

Here's why — sciatica is often a nerve sensitivity issue, not just a muscle or disc problem. Your nervous system picks up on a threat in the area and turns the volume up on pain to protect you. That's not weakness. That's just how the system works.

But if you never address what's actually triggering the threat, the sensitivity stays high — and the pain keeps cycling back.

At Release Muscle Therapy in Temecula, we identify the specific pattern driving your nervous system's response. Then we work to calm the sensitivity, release what's overloaded, and build a corrective plan your body can actually follow.

No guessing. No generic stretches. Just a clear path to feeling better.

Most people don’t realize this…

Waking up with a stiff or sore neck isn’t just “one of those things” that comes with sleep.

It’s usually the result of a few small habits stacking up over time—like the wrong pillow height, awkward sleep positions, or tension from long days at a desk.

The good news?
Those same small habits can be adjusted.

Simple shifts—like better neck support, changing sleep position, or releasing built-up tension during the day—can make a noticeable difference in how mornings feel.

Take a look at the graphic below for a quick breakdown 👇

Which one stands out the most?

⚡️ Most people think headaches start in the head.

They don’t.

A common (and often overlooked) contributor is tension in the neck—especially from posture, stress, and long hours sitting.

When the muscles in the neck get tight or irritated, they can send signals upward… which is why discomfort can show up in the temples, behind the eyes, or at the base of the skull.

The good news?
This type of tension is often manageable with the right approach.

Simple things like improving posture, gentle movement, and targeted hands-on massage therapy can make a noticeable difference over time.

If you’ve ever wondered *why* discomfort seems to keep coming back, this might be the missing piece.

Big pain. Small muscles. ⚡

If the only focus is on where it hurts, you may miss why it keeps coming back.

Most knee and ankle issues aren’t just about the joint…
They’re about how the system around it is (or isn’t) doing its job.

👉 The peroneal muscles are a perfect example.

Small? Yes.

But they help control ankle stability, foot positioning, and how force travels up the chain.

When they’re not pulling their weight, something else has to.
That’s when you start feeling it in your ankle… your knee… or both.

This is why we don’t just chase symptoms —
we look at what’s being overlooked. 👀
