WHAT IS THE FITZPATRICK SCALE?

The Fitzpatrick Scale is a classification system used by skincare professionals to determine how your skin responds to sun exposure. It helps us better understand your skin’s sensitivity, risk of pigmentation, and which treatments may be best suited for your skin.

There are 6 Fitzpatrick Skin Types:

🤍 Type I
Very fair skin that always burns and never tans.

🤍 Type II
Fair skin that usually burns and tans minimally.

🤎 Type III
Light to medium skin that may burn initially but gradually tans.

🤎 Type IV
Olive or light brown skin that rarely burns and tans easily.

🤎 Type V
Brown skin that rarely burns and tans very easily.

🖤 Type VI
Deeply pigmented skin that almost never burns and tans easily.

Why does this matter?

- It helps determine the safest treatment settings for services such as chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments, and exfoliation.

- It helps assess your risk for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

- It helps us create a treatment plan tailored specifically to your skin.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that darker skin tones don’t need sunscreen. The truth is EVERY Fitzpatrick type needs daily SPF protection. While deeper skin tones may have a lower risk of sunburn, they are still susceptible to sun damage, hyperpigmentation, premature aging, and skin cancer.

Just wanted to pop in and give you a little update. I’m officially moved out of my suite in San Diego and settling into my new space in Temecula! 🎉

Right now I’m in full setup mode—tired, looking dusty, and surrounded by boxes 😂 but I’m so excited for this next chapter.

My books should be opening sometime next week, so keep an eye out for an email with all the details and the official booking date.

I’m especially excited for those of you who will be making the drive to Temecula to continue this journey with me, and I completely understand those who won’t be able to. Your support has meant the world to me.
